The Secret History of Israel’s War Against Hitler’s Scientists

· April 12, 2018 ·

Years after the Holocaust, the Mossad learned that Egypt was working with German scientists on weapons of mass destruction. Photo Illustration by Gluekit World Israel Mossad Since World War II, Israel has used assassinations and targeted killings on more people than any other country in the Western world. In many cases, its leaders have determined that in killing a designated target—and protecting its national security—it is moral and legal to endanger the lives of innocent civilians. It stems from the roots of the Zionist movement, from the trauma of the Holocaust and from the sense among Israelis that the country is perpetually in danger of annihilation. And that no one would come to its aid.Because Israel is such a small country, because the Arab states have long talked of and attempted to destroy it, and because of the … [Read more...] about The Secret History of Israel’s War Against Hitler’s Scientists

Conway: Trump Thinks Comey Pushing ‘Revisionist History’

· April 15, 2018 ·

Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway, in a heated interview Monday with CNN's Chris Cuomo, said President Donald Trump thinks former FBI Director James Comey is "engaging in revisionist history" in his new book and in an interview Sunday night. "Jim Comey loves to be in the center of power," Conway told Cuomo, during the course of a half-hour interview that began on CNN's "New Day" and ran over for 15 minutes on to the network's following program. "He loves to divert the spotlight to himself and be in the center of power," she added. "The president is correcting the record because there were two people involved in the conversations. If he objected to anything witnessed in his limited few meetings with President Trump, he should have said so." Conway's comments referred to an Oval Office meeting February 2017. During the meeting, first reported by The New York Times in May of that year, Trump asked the then-FBI director to let this go, referring to the investigation … [Read more...] about Conway: Trump Thinks Comey Pushing ‘Revisionist History’

Williams: For two decades, Virginia textbooks fed baby boomers a bogus history of slavery. Why that matters today.

· April 16, 2018 ·

My parochial school did not force-feed me the bogus Virginia history that poisoned the minds of so many Virginians of my generation. So I turned to my mom, a retired Richmond Public Schools teacher, for her memories of “Virginia: History, Government, Geography,” one of three state-commissioned textbooks whose fake take on history was detailed by Rex Springston in Monday’s issue of Discover Richmond magazine, produced by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.The textbooks, commissioned by the state in 1957 — an era of burgeoning civil rights agitation and the resulting Massive Resistance — “taught Confederate-friendly ‘Lost Cause’ ideas to a generation of Virginians and cast the state’s segregationist political leaders in a favorable light,” Springston wrote. These textbooks weren’t entirely purged from state classrooms until the late 1970s, he wrote. But the cottony euphemisms about the horrors of slavery remained evident in the … [Read more...] about Williams: For two decades, Virginia textbooks fed baby boomers a bogus history of slavery.
