Donald Trump endorsed Illinois state Senator Darren Bailey on Saturday in the GOP primary race for the party's gubernatorial candidate, and polls show he is favored to win. "Darren is just the man to take on and defeat one of the worst governors in America," Trump said at a Mendon, Illinois, rally , referring to Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker, a consistent critic of the former president and his Make America Great Again movement. The Illinois primary will be held Tuesday. Recent polls show that Bailey is well ahead of his Republican primary opponents. President Donald Trump fired back at Democratic Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker for allegedly "complaining all the time," adding that he "hasn't performed well" amid the COVID-19 pandemic. "There is a governor, I hear him complaining all the time, Pritzker. He is always complaining," Trump said during Sunday's White House Coronavirus Task Force press briefing. Mary T. Mara, a veteran of television dramas including "ER," "Nash Bridges" and "Law & Order," was found dead in a river, New York State Police said Monday. Police believe Mara, 61, drowned while she was swimming in the St. Lawrence River in the town of Cape Vincent on Sunday morning, state police said in a statement. State troopers and Cape Vincent emergency medical service workers made the discovery after 8 a.m., they said. A grandmother provided help and care for a pizza delivery man who was shot several times Saturday evening in Joppa, Maryland. According to a release issued by the Harford County Sheriff's Office, officers received a report of a shooting. They found the victim, 24-year-old Da'Shawn Betterson, in a townhouse with several gunshot wounds to his lower body. Officials provided medical aid to Betterson, who was airlifted to a trauma center for non-life-threatening injuries. CBS affiliate station WJZ reported that Karen Rollins ordered dinner for her grandchildren. "I looked outside," she told the outlet. "I saw the pizza box, so I opened the door to get the food, and there was a young man out there jumping around."
