Detainee on Hunger Strike Details Force-Feeding

Nine men — up from six earlier this week — are being force-fed under court order in a detention center in El Paso, Texas, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said. One of the hunger strikers, a 22-year-old man from India who called The Associated Press on Friday, described how he is dragged from his cell three times a day and strapped down on a bed. He said a group of people force-feed him by pouring liquid into tubes pushed through his nose. The man, who AP is identifying only by his last name Singh out of family concerns for his safety, stopped eating more than a month ago. In mid-January, ICE obtained court orders to begin non-consensual hydration and feeding, and so for weeks they've had nasal tubes inserted in their noses and IVs in their arms. Air Force seeks $430 million to replace aging Offutt-based aircraft

The Air Force is seeking $430 million to buy five new aircraft to replace Offutt-based planes that were built in the 1960s and lately have been plagued by maintenance difficulties.The Trump Administration’s 2019 budget request includes $222 million to buy two new small airliners and equip them with cameras that allow the U.S. to photograph military facilities in Russia and other countries as part of the Open Skies Treaty.The budget request also includes $208 million to convert three KC-135R aerial-refueling tankers into “Constant Phoenix” jets capable of detecting and identifying fallout from nuclear explosions in North Korea or elsewhere. Who Is Anne Marie D’Amico? First Toronto Van Victim Identified

World Toronto victim One of the first victims who died Monday in Toronto after a van driver plowed into pedestrians has been identified. Family members of Anne Marie D’Amico confirmed to Toronto's CityNews that D’Amico was one of the 10 people killed when 25-year-old Alek Minassian allegedly ran people down on a busy Toronto street. Fifteen others were injured, and Minassian was taken into custody after a dramatic standoff with a Toronto police officer. D’Amico was rushed to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and pronounced dead at the hospital, reported CityNews. D'Amico was reportedly an employee of Invesco, a U.S.-based investment management firm, according to CBC. Its Canadian headquarters are close to the area where the van struck. Mystery Skier Identified After 64 Years Missing Thanks to Social Media Appeal

WorldA skier has been identified 64 years after going missing in the Italian Alps, following a public appeal for information on Facebook by investigators.Relatives of Henri Le Masne contacted Italian authorities to say the mystery skier, who was found dead near the Matterhorn mountain in 2005, may be the Frenchman, the BBC reported.Le Masne had gone missing while on holiday in 1954. Though he was never found, local authorities did discover human remains and ski equipment 10,000 feet up in the Valtournenche valley of the Aosta region near the Swiss-Italian frontier, a police statement explained.Also found were a watch, glasses and some clothing with the owner’s initials. Officials estimated he was 5 foot 9 inches tall and aged around 30. He was believed to have died in Spring, and his high quality equipment suggested the man was wealthy.
