India’s demand for petroleum products like petrol and diesel will grow by 7.73 per cent in 2022, the fastest pace in the world, an OPEC report said. India’s demand for oil products is projected to rise from 4.77 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2021 to 5.14 million bpd in 2022, OPEC said in its monthly oil report. The growth in demand is the fastest in the world ahead of 1.23 per cent of China, 3.39 per cent of the US and 4.62 per cent of Europe. For 2023, the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) projected a growth of 4.67 per cent in India’s demand to 5.38 per cent. This, however, will be lower than 4.86 per cent growth in China. India is the world’s third largest oil importing and consuming nation behind the US and China. The demand for petroleum products in India is supported by the healthy economic growth of 7.1 per cent, continuing economic reopening amid ease of COVID restrictions and easing of trade-related bottlenecks supporting both mobility and … [Read more...] about Petrol, Diesel Demand To Grow: India’s Oil Requirement To Rise 7.7% in 2022, Says OPEC

House prices on average £20,000 more expensive today than 12 months ago
House prices in the UK are on average £20,000 more expensive than they were this time last year, despite showing signs that this growth is starting to slow. Average house prices increased by 7.8% in the year from May 2021 to June, according to the Office for National Statistics. This was down from an increase of 12.8% in May 2022. Experts say that a perfect storm is heading for the UK’s property market, a combination of increasing mortgage costs, record inflation levels and the steep cost of living . These factors will all continue to undermine demand levels in the coming months. But over the past 12 months, the story has been one of growth, driven by low property numbers, lots of available capital, low interest rates and a desire to change homes during the pandemic. Average prices increased over the past year to £305,000 in England, £213,000 in Wales, £192,000 in Scotland and £169,000 in Northern Ireland. Many households are spending more cautiously as inflation remains high and as interest rates rise. The S&P 500 was off 0.6%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nadsaq composite also fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 2.88%. European markets were also lower. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below. Gen Z Has Found Its Guitar Hero
This has been a strange year for popular music. In the winter, a chaotically catchy cha-cha medley from a Disney movie took the title of No. 1 song in the world. Then a 37-year-old anthem from one of music’s great oddballs, Kate Bush, did the same . Right now, another singular tune is making a surprising climb up the charts, though this time the hit also represents a familiar occurrence: the breakout moment for a promising talent. The artist is Steve Lacy, a 24-year-old guitarist and singer from Compton, California. The song is “ Bad Habit ,” which simultaneously sounds like something the Beach Boys might have demoed in the ’60s, Prince might have covered in the ’80s, and college rock radio might have played in the ’90s—yet it probably could have blown up only today. Lacy has had buzz in the music industry for a while now . After becoming a music nerd in childhood thanks to the video game Guitar Hero, he joined the soon-to-be-Grammy-nominated R&B group The Internet when … [Read more...] about Gen Z Has Found Its Guitar Hero
Easy-to-swallow recipes for those for those with mouth pain
Let’s say that you are very ill, so much so that your nourishment gets into your body via a painful puncture or means — a needle and solution, for example, or a feeding tube. You bear the pain because you tell yourself that you must, in order to eat, surely, but also just to move on. Let’s say, however, that the way food routinely gets into you is itself riven with pain. It is your mouth, its palate, the chewing and swallowing devices of your mandible and tongue, the whole hole. You’ve had some wisdom teeth removed, say. Or a couple of serious canker sores have encamped. Your advanced Parkinson’s complications make it near-impossible to swallow. Your mouth suffers an abscess, or lesions from shingles, or oral thrush. Or, let’s say that a surgeon had to remove some of the mouth because cancer was there (as in a portion of your tongue). “Three months into the pandemic,” says a friend, Marty Jones, “I had lost a lot of weight — 25 pounds — and I didn’t know why.” With … [Read more...] about Easy-to-swallow recipes for those for those with mouth pain
