By CAROLYN HAX, SYNDICATED COLUMNIST Published 8:54 am, Sunday, April 8, 2018 Dear Carolyn: My partner of five years gets upset because I don't miss him when he is away or during any time we are not together (we don't live together). I've tried to explain to him that I don't miss anybody, not even my son or grandchildren. Yes, I love to be with them and when I see them or him I am happy, but when people go away I just keep myself busy and don't really think about what is not there. I think I just live in the present. I never get lonely and have a few friends that I see on a weekly basis. I have several sisters and see them at least once a month. By CAROLYN HAX, SYNDICATED COLUMNIST Updated 2:26 pm, Tuesday, January 9, 2018 Photo: Linus Strandholm / EyeEm, Getty Images Adapted from a recent online discussion. Dear Carolyn: Every year on my birthday, my husband and I do something simple like going to a museum and dinner. I have a friend who is in a long-distance relationship, and I'm not a fan of her boyfriend. She announced that my birthday is when her boyfriend will be visiting next and she wants to double date. She ended the conversation with "Let me know what we're doing'' and has brought it up multiple times since. I want my low-key birthday with my husband, but this is the only day they have free, and she is very excited to celebrate together. You've talked before about how as adults we need to calm down about our birthdays. Do I just suck it up and spend the day with the glass bowl?
