Associated Press Published 11:52 PM EDT Oct 4, 2018 Foxborough, Mass. — Tom Brady reached 500 touchdown passes for his unparalleled career and the New England Patriots put together their second straight win after a mediocre start to the season, beating Indianapolis, 38-24, on Thursday night. Brady’s 500th went to Josh Gordon, recently acquired from Cleveland, where he basically was unavailable through NFL suspensions for all but five games over the past three seasons. But, as he often does, Brady spread the wealth, hitting running back James White 10 times for 77 yards, and greeting the return of buddy Julian Edelman by completing seven for 57 yards to him. Brady also tied Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri, a former teammate, for most NFL victories with 226. As everyone in Gillette Stadium except, apparently, the Colts knew, Brady started off with a pass to Edelman, who was wide open for 9 yards. That drew the first of many loud cheers for the 10th-year veteran receiver … [Read more...] about Thursday’s NFL: Tom Brady reaches 500 TD passes in win

Since his meteoric rise from backup quarterback to Super Bowl champion in the 2001 season, Tom Brady has been the franchise player of the New England Patriots. He’s won five Super Bowls, four Super Bowl MVPs, two NFL MVPs, and made 13 Pro Bowls. But most fans are more than aware of these accolades. Here are 41 things you might not know about the 41-year-old quarterback: 1. He unintentionally dozed off for 20 or 30 minutes before his first Super Bowl. Prior to the kickoff of Super Bowl XXXVI, Brady navigated the elongated pregame by taking a short nap in the locker room: “Twelve minutes later we were running out onto the field.” 2. His diet used to be a far cry from the healthy standards he now adheres by. While Brady is now a strict disciplinarian about what he eats, his rookie year was a little different. He used to eat nachos before games in 2000, when he was a fourth-string quarterback. And his “go-to lunches were ham-and-cheese subs with onion rings, washed … [Read more...] about 41 things you might not know about Tom Brady
Cindy Boren, The Washington Post Published 6:41 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2018 We know the most important date, and one of the teams involved. That's Sept. 6, when the NFL season begins in Philadelphia, with a prime-time game starring the defending champion Eagles. What we don't yet know is how the rest of the NFL schedule will shake out, with the exception of three compelling games in England. But we do now know the full schedule will be released Thursday night during a two-hour prime-time special on NFL Network. (As usual, the league is announcing its schedule before the NFL draft, because it doesn't want to detract from that event. This year's draft begins on April 26.) The Thursday night schedule release show, hosted by Scott Hanson, will also reveal the highly anticipated slate of Thursday night Fox games, although more scheduling nuggets are likely to dribble out in the 24 hours before that program. Until we have specifics, here's a look at the opponents each team … [Read more...] about NFL schedule 2018: Games to watch
Ever since Rob Gronkowski told reporters he was going to “reflect on the season” after Super Bowl LII, the tight end has been making headlines for the uncertainty surrounding his future in the NFL. Although multiple reports indicate Gronkowski is expected to return to New England in 2018, any reassurance has been quickly challenged by subsequent reports claiming he has yet to make a decision. Opting for early retirement as well as possibly getting traded have both been floated as potential outcomes for the two-time Super Bowl champion. So will Gronkowski be at Gillette Stadium when the Patriots begin their offseason workouts next Monday? If yes, is he there to stay? Neither Gronkowski nor the Patriots have formally addressed their respective plans — despite a series of cryptic tweets from the 28-year-old — and his attendance alone isn’t going to put an end to the matter. Should Gronkowski return for another season of football, … [Read more...] about What’s going on with Rob Gronkowski and Bill Belichick?
