Glenn Kessler, The Washington Post Published 2:41 am PDT, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 "I paid into Medicare my whole life. Trump wants to cut it just to pay for tax breaks to billionaires." - "Bill A.," in Priorities USA ad released July 23, 2019 - - - It's always catnip for The Fact Checker when we receive an email from a super PAC announcing a new ad campaign. This one especially caught our eye because Priorities USA, a Democratic-leaning group, dubbed it the "Let's Be Honest" campaign. That's a high bar for any ad campaign - but this ad fails to clear it. It's another example of what we call "Mediscare," mixed in with some bashing of the wealthy. The ad purports to show a couple who have been farmers for 42 years - "Bill A." and "Mona A." At first, it seems the ad would delve into the impact that President Donald Trump's policy of putting tariffs on Chinese goods has had on U.S. farmers, but then it veers into familiar territory for a Democratic attack ad. By Letters To The Editor | June 16, 2019 at 4:10 am How has Trump put ‘God’ back in America? Re: “Trump talks about issues that most concern us” (Letter to the editor, Eastbaytimes.com, June 12): I have been puzzled as to why some people approve of Donald Trump. Trump may have talked about balancing the budget, but what he has actually done is to greatly increase the deficit by cutting taxes for corporations and the rich. POLITICS 11/20/2018 03:32 am ET "She is the only one with judgement so bad that such a thing could have happened!" By Ed Mazza Old tweets written by President Donald Trump’s about Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server aren’t aging very well. On Monday, The Washington Post reported that Ivanka Trump, his eldest daughter and an official adviser, used her personal email account for government business hundreds of times last year in violation of federal records rules. Yet Trump made Clinton’s emails a major issue in the 2016 presidential campaign and often referred to her as “Crooked Hillary.” He also called Clinton “unfit” and “incompetent,” and slammed her for “poor judgement” (sic) over the issue. “Who would trust these people with national security?” he asked in one tweet. Clinton’s email practices are also a prime driver of the “lock her … [Read more...] about Trump’s Old Tweets About Hillary Clinton’s Email Look Really Bad For Ivanka Trump
0 Have your say Practical issues like healthcare, the state of the roads, safe drinking water and a living wage helped the Democrats take the House of Representatives in the US midterm elections as Americans turned away from Donald Trump’s credo of power, sex and money, writes Susan Dalgety after campaigning for Susan Wild in Pennsylvania. Jackie picked up her stick, her umbrella and her shopping bag.“I have to go for my bus now. If I miss this one, it’s an hour’s wait for the next,” she said in her soft North Carolina drawl.“I will see you in 2020,” I laughed, giving her a big hug.“If I last that long,” she laughed back. “I’m already 83!” And with that cheery retort, she went out into the dark, wet November night. I am sure I will see her again.Jackie was just one of the many, many lovely people we met on the campaign to elect Democrat Susan Wild to Congress. There were a handful of … [Read more...] about ‘Donald Trump’s gold toilet loses its lustre as US warms to Obamacare’
