CUET 2022 Phase 4 Exam Analysis: Math Continue to be Difficult, Accountancy, English Easy
The fourth phase of the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 began on Wednesday. On the second day of phase four of the exam, August 18, students found the papers to be easy except for mathematics, which has been considered as little moderate in difficulty level. The economics paper had questions based on concepts taught in class 12 while accountancy and English papers were on the easier, claimed students. In economics, “there was one case study with five questions and surprisingly the graph based questions were more like data interpretation. Topics covered included macro-economic policy indicator, goal of five-year plan, great leap forward campaign, among others,” said Amitendra Kumar, Product Head – CUET & Under Graduate Programmes, Career Launcher. Florida Christian school says it will only refer to students by ‘biological gender,’ asks gay and transgender students to leave
A religious school in Florida says it will only refer to students by their sex assigned at birth, while pupils who are gay, transgender or gender nonconforming "will be asked to leave the school immediately." NBC News obtained an email from the Grace Christian School in Valrico, about 20 miles east of Tampa, sent before the beginning of the school year by Administrator Barry McKeen. The subject line of the email reads: "Important School Policy Point of Emphasis. ... Please Read." The June 6 correspondence to parents cited scripture and said that students will be referred to by the "gender on their birth certificates" during the school year beginning this month. While the email refers to "biological gender," the National Institute of Health defines "gender" as a social construct, as opposed to "sex," which is the biological difference between females and males. "We believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with … [Read more...] about Florida Christian school says it will only refer to students by ‘biological gender,’ asks gay and transgender students to leave

In a dramatic U-turn, the Calcutta High Court recalled its order directing arrested TMC leader Anubrata Mondal’s daughter Sukanya Mondal and five others to appear before it in connection with allegations that they got jobs as primary teachers without having to qualify the Teachers’ Eligibility Test. The high court said there was no need to present eligibility documents before it as directed earlier. The six of them were present in person in a packed courtroom number 17 of the Calcutta HC, in compliance with the orders. In a rarest of rare courtroom development, Justice Gangopadhyay allowed journalists to record the court proceedings provided they did not livestream them. A Southern California school district agreed to an $18 million settlement with parents of a special needs child who died after falling out of his chair on campus five years ago, lawyers for the boy's family said Wednesday. Moises Murillo, then 8, had a severe form of Down syndrome and was using his highly specialized chair on May 31, 2017 during summer classes at Sunset Elementary in La Puente. Moises, who was unable to walk, was taken out of the adaptive stroller and strapped into a normal school chair so he could participate in a classroom activity, according to a lawsuit filed by his family against the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. The unattended child fell backward, hitting his head on the floor, severely injuring his spinal cord and leading to his death days later, Moises’ loved ones said. "My brother did mean everything to us," sister Lizbeth Murillo told reporters on Wednesday. "And to this day, my mom might look like she's okay and that she's fine, but … [Read more...] about California school district agrees to $18 million settlement over 8-year-old special needs student’s deadly fall

Back in Florida, CB Mackensie Alexander feels at home with Dolphins
As Mackensie Alexander absorbed the South Florida heat and humidity for a third training camp practice with the Miami Dolphins this week, he was reminded on Thursday of the hard work he had to endure both working with his parents in his youth and as a high school football standout in Immokalee in similar conditions. Alexander and his twin brother, Mackenro, gathered everything from oranges to tomatoes on the fields of the rural Florida town just southeast of Fort Myers for his working-class parents, who were Haitian immigrants. It was commonplace for Alexander to have to wake up at 4 or 5 a.m. to spend the morning on the fields before getting ready for school. It motivated him to see football as a way out of that lifestyle, and he made the most of his opportunities at Immokalee High, becoming a five-star recruit that played for Clemson and eventually became a second-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2016 NFL draft. Spending five of his six seasons with the Vikings and … [Read more...] about Back in Florida, CB Mackensie Alexander feels at home with Dolphins
Parents protest replacement of textbooks with tabs
A private school, which had introduced tablets as a replacement for textbooks, withdrew the move on Thursday after a protest by parents. The Sri Chaitanya Techno School at Bannerghatta Road, which follows the CBSE syllabus, had introduced the tablets for students between Classes 3 and 6. Parents felt that the move would end with children getting addicted to such devices. There’s also the cost factor: parents allege that they would have to pay an average of Rs. 15,000 for the device and the content or pre-loaded syllabus. Satish H.P., a parent said that while he is not against tablets and other such learning devices, he is wary of introducing it to his child at such an early age. “Replacing textbooks with tablets can be detrimental to the child’s learning. The school initially said it was mandatory. Later, they made it optional. But we do not want students in one class to have different learning experiences,” he said. ‘Addicted to the screen’ Gauri Kamath, another parent, … [Read more...] about Parents protest replacement of textbooks with tabs
