Heyuan city police said the 390ft section collapsed early on Friday. China’s Xinhua News Agency said two security guards rescued a 44-year-old man, but two other people are missing. Dramatic footage on state broadcaster CCTV showed two arches of the six-arch bridge falling apart within seconds and without any apparent warning. The bridge spans the Dongjiang river in Guangdong province. The cause of the collapse is under investigation. Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Tropical storm Pabuk, the first to hit the East Sea (South China Sea) this year, is heading toward the Gulf of Thailand but is still expected to cause heavy rains in southern Việt Nam. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of 15km per hour and is expected to cause rough seas and heavy rains in southern localities from Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu to Cà Mau provinces, including Côn Đảo island District, and from Cà Mau to Kiên Giang provinces, including Phú Quốc island district and Thổ Chu island, according to the National Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre. The sea areas in the south of the Gulf of Thailand and the south of Cà Mau are forecast to experience rough seas and waves of up to five metres. At 1pm Wednesday, the storm’s eye was 430km off the mainland of the southern region. Wind speeds at the eye reached up to 75 km per hour. The storm is expected to move west-northwest at 15km per hour. Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Heavy rains, triggering flooding, are feared to hit a number of areas in Indonesia as masses of cold air are blowing into the country, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has said. "A number of factors are expected to increase the potential of rainfall in large areas of Indonesia in the period ahead of the new year -- from 28 to 31 December, 2018," Deputy for Meteorology of the BMKG Mulyono R Prabowo said in a written statement received here on Friday. Mulyono said center of low pressure in areas around the Philippines and South China Sea cause masses of cold air from mainland Asia to concentrate in northern region.
