Prince Harry "didn't make any progress" on the race row with William and Charles during his recent trip to the UK for Prince Philip's funeral, according to reports. In the explosive interview with Oprah, Harry and Meghan made claims a member of the family had expressed 'concerns' about the colour of Archie's skin before he was born. Following the interview, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. "While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately." But Palace insiders have told the Sun "little was resolved about the race row" despite Harry's recent trip to the UK for the funeral. Brothers Prince Harry and William ( Image: EMPICS Entertainment) Sources claimed the Duke of Sussex did not "make any progress" regarding the allegations when he was back in the country. Prince William’s best friend frisked by police ‘after hawk found in trap’ on his land
Prince William ’s best pal was frisked in his pyjamas by police after a hawk was reported trapped on his land. Officers raided the estate of William van Cutsem, who is Prince George ’s godfather. It comes after activists from the Hunt Investigation Team said they found two illegal hawk traps baited with pigeons and a goshawk caught in one. They claimed to have filmed a masked person removing the protected bird on Mr van Cutsem’s Hilborough estate near Sandringham, Norfolk. A spokesman said: “It was not immediately released – something a legal operator would do. “It is presumed dead. Gamekeepers see raptors as a threat to shooting stocks.” A goshawk was found trapped on his land ( Image: Getty Images) The recording was passed to Norfolk Police, whose officers found a trap set with a live pigeon. Two men were then searched and four live pigeons, one dead pigeon and a police-style baton were seized, among other items. Think Liverpool fans were wrong to boo Prince William? Read this first
If, like me, you watched the football on Saturday – and saw Chelsea lose to Liverpool on penalties (6-5, after a 0-0 draw) – you might have noticed the crowd booing Prince William as he presented the winning side with the hallowed FA Cup. They also jeered during a rendition of the national anthem and the hymn “Abide With Me”. Were you surprised? Shocked? Disappointed? If you were, you weren’t alone – some fans (of the royal family, that is) have since expressed their disapproval on social media, including certain politicians. Conservative MP and former culture secretary Karen Bradley, for example, described the situation as “unacceptable and disgraceful”. “I would urge the Football Association (FA) to take all the necessary action, and pursue those responsible,” she told the Daily Mail; while the speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle , said he “utterly condemns” the booing. “The FA Cup final should be an occasion when we come together as a country. Prince Harry hopes Archie and Lilibet ‘never have to experience online world as it is now’
Prince Harry has said he hopes his children "never have to experience the online world as it is right now". The Duke of Sussex said the way people use social media "isn't working and needs to be fixed", as he expressed concerns he and wife Meghan share for their children's generation. Speaking about his concerns for his own children, Archie, three, and Lilibet, 11 months, he said: "My kids are too young to have experienced the online world yet. And I hope that they never have to experience it as it exists now. No kid should have to. "Sometimes I feel I can keep them away from the online harms that they could face in the future forever, but I am learning to know better." Harry was speaking at a charity event via Zoom from his home in California, as he helped launch an online safety toolkit run by the 5Rights Foundation. The tantalizing possibilities of the Knicks’ best-case lottery scenario
It’s always dangerous to get conclusive about a draft class before the picks are called, let alone before the players step on the court, but the preliminary consensus among scouts and experts is that 2022 is top heavy. Specifically, there are four players that sit as the cream. So for the Knicks, who enter the draft lottery at No. 11, the drawing of Ping Pong balls Tuesday night in Chicago is consequential. Potentially franchise altering. There is a decent enough chance for them to crack the top-4 (9.4%) to pay attention, and the reaction of the always demonstrative William Wesley, who is sitting for the Knicks on the dais , will be worth a view regardless of the outcome. And if the Knicks’ lottery luck changes and the franchise moves up in the lottery for the first time since 1985, here’s a breakdown of the four prospective rewards (we’re ignoring that the team could also use such a lucrative pick to trade for a star. Ahem, Donovan Mitchell): JABARI SMITH JR. AGE: … [Read more...] about The tantalizing possibilities of the Knicks’ best-case lottery scenario
GOP Cuts Deal to More than Double Importation of Foreign Workers
Republican Senators have reportedly cut a deal with the business lobby to more than double the annual importation of low-skilled foreign workers to the U.S. to take blue-collar American jobs. Every year, the U.S. companies are allowed to import 66,000 low-skilled H-2B foreign workers to take blue-collar, non-agricultural jobs. The H-2B visa program is used by businesses to bring in cheaper, foreign workers and has contributed to blue-collar Americans having their wages undercut. An exclusive report by the Washington Times reveals that Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SC), and Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) have made a deal with the business lobby to import more than double the amount of foreign workers on the wage-cutting H-2B visa to ensure that business has readily cheap labor available instead of having to recruit Americans for the blue-collar jobs. The Republican lawmakers negotiated the deal with the H-2B Workforce Coalition and the … [Read more...] about GOP Cuts Deal to More than Double Importation of Foreign Workers
Andrew ‘obsessed’ with making royal return, using queen to do it
Author and former editor of Vanity Fair , Tina Brown, has said that Prince Andrew has "always been a dim bulb and something of an oaf," but that he has become "obsessed" with making a royal return to form after retiring from public life in the wake of a sexual assult allegations brought against him by accusor Virginia Giuffre . The prince has denied any allegation of wrongdoing and earlier this year settled out of court a lawsuit brought against him by Giuffre related to her claims. It was reported that the prince settled the lawsuit for an estimated $10 million before Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee so as not to detract from the national events. "Andrew has always been a dim bulb and something of an oaf, let's face it," Brown told 60 Minutes Australia in connection with her new book The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor, the Truth and the Turmoil. "Andrew has been canceled essentially," she added in regard to the negative public opinion of the royal … [Read more...] about Andrew ‘obsessed’ with making royal return, using queen to do it
Alito says overturning Roe gives women a voice on abortion. In the South, it’s not that simple.
In his leaked draft Supreme Court opinion, Justice Samuel Alito argues that overturning Roe v. Wade would allow “women on both sides of the abortion issue to seek to affect the legislative process.” If women in a post-Roe era don’t like state laws that restrict abortion access, or laws that preserve the right to have an abortion, Alito envisions a world in which they can step up and change them. Women can vote, he pointed out, and often do so in higher numbers than men. They can lobby and run for office. But advocates for voting access and civil rights say that Alito’s depiction does not account for the parts of the country, particularly in the South, where laws make it harder for the poor and voters of color to cast their ballots, and where racially polarized voting can make it more difficult for abortion rights candidates to gain ground. How states will proceed if Roe v. Wade is overturned May 3, 2022 02:35 Southern states … [Read more...] about Alito says overturning Roe gives women a voice on abortion.
