Neighbor says lightning caused tank fires in northeast Harris County

A neighbor told ABC13 that he heard a loud explosion and saw a flash. "We went outside and saw a big glow in the sky," Daniel Cook said. According to radio dispatch audio, the tanks were about 8-feet-tall and were partially collapsed from the flames. "From the looks of it, it's probably going to burn out before we can actually put any kind of foam on it," the dispatcher is heard saying. Man cut from car after crashing into pole in Harris County

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man had to be cut out of a car Sunday morning after a major accident at Imperial Valley and FM 1960.Harris County Sheriff's Office said speed was a factor when a man in his early twenties hit a pole head on while not wearing a seat belt. The man told authorities he possibly fell asleep at the wheel.He hit the curb and went airborne, and his car finally stopped 416 feet from where he first left he road, according to authorities.The man was trapped inside his car for about an hour because his legs were stuck, eventually the roof was cut off his car in order to pull him out.HCSO said the man obtained significant injuries and was transported via Life Flight to a local hospital."I tried to tear the door open trying to get him out because I heard somebody in there. A couple more people showed up, we were trying to get the windows open," recalled one witness at the scene. DANGEROUS NIGHT: Driver arrested after fleeing with teen during crash in north Harris County

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police are working to piece together a dangerous chain of events that involved crashes and a chase in north Harris County. During the first incident, a Dodge pickup truck and a Buick crashed into each other around 3 a.m. Monday on Airline and Gulf Bank, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. Both drivers took off. A deputy saw what happened and chased the truck driver, who kept going until she crashed into a Nissan Maxima and left the scene again. One person in the Nissan was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck ended up crashing at Gulf Bank and the North Freeway, slamming into a power pole. The pole snapped at the base, causing power lines to land into a tree and catch on fire. The driver ran off again, but was eventually found and brought back to the scene. She was arrested. She did have two passengers, an adult and a teenager, who were both injured and taken to the hospital.
