SNOW could reach the fringes of London this weekend, with the freezing UK weather predicted to bed in until next month. Some forecasters claim this could be the coldest Halloween in almost a century, as temperatures drop dramatically. The mercury could plummet as low as -5C - and feel even colder when wind chill is factored in - in some remote Scottish spots, with lows hovering around 0C in the South. Cold Arctic air is set to sweep across the UK from Friday, bringing a much more wintry feel and forcing trick-or-treaters to wrap up warm over the Halloween weekend. Snowfall is expected to come with this plume of freezing air - and although mainly restricted to mountainous areas, some southern parts of England could see some flurries. HUNDREDS of revellers donning their best Halloween costumes hit the streets last night - with many looking worse for wear by the end of it. With the annual fright-fest due to roll around on Wednesday, many took the opportunity to get the celebrations started early. Among those spotted out and about was a woman who appeared to take inspiration from Christopher Nolan's Batman Scarecrow. Other women were seen dressed as cats, covered in terrifying facepaint or devil costumes. However, the night took a turn for the worst for some spotted stumbling over or being tended to by emergency services. Despite this, thousands more are expected to be out partying in fancy dress again tonight in a final bid to celebrate the fright-fest.
