CORONERS services in Portsmouth will merge with the rest of Hampshire. Existing services in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire, Southampton, Central and New Forest and North East Hampshire will be combined following a decision made at a Portsmouth cabinet meeting on Tuesday.It is thought the move would save Portsmouth City Council £25,000. FIREFIGHTERS, cops, and even the army have been drafted in after two enormous moors fires merged into one giant blaze. Fire chiefs declared a major incident on Saturday after two of the enormous fires joined together after a week of tearing across parts of the North. The fires - on Winter Hill and Scout Road near Bolton - joined due to increasing windspeed and Britain's scorching heatwave. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said 10 crews remained on the scene overnight, but the number was increased to 22 by 4.30am on Sunday. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service claimed to have 28 fire engines tackling the moorland fires. There were an estimated 120 personnel on the moors, split between seven areas of wildfire in Tameside and Winter Hill, Bolton. The first moorland fire - on Saddleworth Moor - started on Sunday amid Britain's heatwave and has devastated surrounding land around Carrbrook.
