Three hundred employees at the parent company of ubiquitous social media app TikTok list Chinese state media outlets in their employment histories, a Forbes investigation of public LinkedIn profile information revealed Thursday. The investigation may reveal Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ties to ByteDance, a Chinese technology company that operates several popular social media apps, through Chinese media organizations that generate CCP propaganda, according to Forbes. The profiles include 23 current directors of ByteDance responsible for “content partnerships, public affairs, corporate social responsibility and media cooperation,” and 15 who may still hold employment status with certain Chinese state-run media outlets, though it’s possible that the LinkedIn profiles were not updated after a change of job status. South Korea President Yoon pardons Samsung vice-chairman Jay Y. Lee
South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol pardoned Samsung Electronics vice-chairman Jay Y. Lee on Friday, with South Korea's Justice Ministry saying the business leader was needed to help overcome a "national economic crisis". The pardon is largely symbolic, with Mr. Lee already out on parole after serving 18 months in jail for bribery relating to his time leading the world's biggest smartphone and memory-chip maker. However, it should mean Mr. Lee will be able to carry out business activities more freely and could herald some big moves from Samsung, analysts said. "With urgent needs to overcome the national economic crisis, we carefully selected economic leaders who lead the national growth engine through active technology investment and job creation to be pardoned," Justice Minister Han Dong Hoon told a briefing. Investigation into Alec Baldwin ‘Rust’ shooting nearing end—Police
The police investigation into Alec Baldwin's fatal shooting of a crew member on the set of his movie Rust is nearing its conclusion, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office has announced. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot on the New Mexico set of Rust on October 21, 2021, when a prop gun that star and producer Baldwin was holding during rehearsals discharged . Writer-director Joel Souza was injured in the incident. Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger . Investigators probing the case say that one of the final components required is Baldwin's phone records, which the Suffolk County Police Department is assisting New Mexico authorities with obtaining, according to the sheriff's office.
