Many Brits are starting to regret sharing their lives online - with a staggering THIRD saying they would delete themselves entirely from the internet if they could. Despite most of us being internet-savvy, it appears social media heavyweights such as facebook , Twitter , TikTok and Snapchat are proving a little overbearing for some. So much so, that some 33 per cent would opt to erase all traces of their identity from the web if possible, according to research by cybersecurity company NordVPN . 'Please get rid of these things!' Even if they don’t want to disappear entirely, there are certain things Brits would rather see removed: 36 per cent — Unflattering photos/videos 25 per cent — Embarrassing moments 25 per cent — Old dating/social media profiles 16 per cent — Previous employment history Incredibly, some people would even be willing to pay to remain completely anonymous online. K-pop star apologizes for posting Russia photo
BamBam, a member of the South Korean boy band GOT7 , apologized to fans on Friday for posting a series of pictures on social media that included at least one photo from a trip to Russia. The photos of international destinations (including Russia), which BamBam wrote were taken during the "old days," were recently shared on his Instagram account. The comments section for the post soon filled up with angry messages, including many notes from Ukrainian fans who were outraged he would celebrate a country whose leader is attacking their home. The controversy is not typical for GOT7, who quickly became one of K-pop 's most popular acts after the release of their debut EP in 2014. The boy band enjoys a devoted following on social media and recently released a comeback album this spring after taking a brief hiatus. Though the group is based in South Korea, BamBam is from Thailand, and he continues to do work for disadvantaged children in his home country through the United Nations … [Read more...] about K-pop star apologizes for posting Russia photo

Britney Spears accuses mom of abuse after Lynne shares texts
Britney Spears has accused her mother of abuse as the pop star's family drama is reigniting on social media this week. The pop star s hared and swiftly deleted two posts in the early hours of Monday morning, one of which featured an alleged text exchange with her mother Lynne Spears during a 2019 stay at a mental health facility. In screenshots of a text conversation posted by Spears, the 40-year-old expressed her concerns over the dosages she was being given of antipsychotic drug Seroquel, which is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. "I feel like he's trying to kill me," Spears said during that exchange, which she said went unanswered. During explosive court testimony in June 2020, Spears stated that she was made to take mood stabilizer lithium while she was under the conservatorship, which had seen her personal and financial decisions taken out of her hands since 2008. Kelis calls Beyoncé’s fans “a joke” as they swarm her IG after song spat
Kelis called Beyoncé's fans "a joke" on Wednesday, as she clapped back at them for mobbing one of her Instagram posts following a spat over a track being sampled. Beyoncé recently removed a sample of Kelis' 2003 hit "Milkshake" from her new album, Renaissance , after Kelis branded its use "theft," alleging that she had not been asked for permission to use it. Kelis also called Beyoncé's alleged actions "stupid and disrespectful." The original version of "Energy" featured an interpolation from "Milkshake," in which Beyoncé, 40, sang a variation of the iconic "la-la, la-la, la" from Kelis' hit. In light of the fallout, this has since been removed without comment from Beyoncé. However, it would appear that a faction of Beyoncé's devoted army of fans—collectively called the Beyhive—are not happy, as they swarmed Kelis' most recent Instagram post. Kelis, who turns 43 on August 21, took to the image-sharing platform to post a series of photos of herself donning an … [Read more...] about Kelis calls Beyoncé’s fans “a joke” as they swarm her IG after song spat
‘Mr. Robot’ Is a Compelling Hacker Drama for the Paranoid Internet Age
Elliot, the hacker protagonist of USA’s new drama Mr. Robot , looks like the dark corners of the Internet in human form. As played by Rami Malek, he’s pale and nervy-looking, and would be easy to miss in a crowd if it weren’t for his hollow stare. Elliot suffers from crippling social anxiety and mostly interacts with people by stalking them online, but he’s a well-meaning hacker, who despises his day job at a banking conglomerate and works at night to try to overthrow it. This, it seems, is the closest thing the 21st century gets for a hero: Despite airing on a typically stodgy network and being saddled with a ridiculous title, Mr. Robot is an angry, surprisingly effective screed against the current inequities of the world. Much of this is thanks to Malek’s outstanding lead performance, which shoulders the burden of ranty voice-over narration (typically the death knell for a show’s credibility) and invests Elliot with sympathy, despite the fact that he’s, well, a bit of a creep. … [Read more...] about ‘Mr. Robot’ Is a Compelling Hacker Drama for the Paranoid Internet Age
Ahead of Independence Day 2022, Old Video of Tricolour Waterfall Resurfaces on The Internet
Ahead of the 75th Independence Day, an old video of a tricolor waterfall has resurfaced on the internet. Reportedly, the video was recorded in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur in 2020 around Independence Day. In the video, which has been trending on social media, two men can be seen on top of the hill, throwing saffron and green colour into a waterfall from two different sides, creating a mesmerising view of the Indian national flag. The old video popped up again on social media after the government launched the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, wherein people are asked to bring Indian flags home and hoist them to mark the country’s 75 years of Independence. The video opens with a crowd standing around a waterfall and two men pouring colour into the water near the overhang. The striking effect of the hue getting darker slowly, in the beginning, is mesmerising to witness. The video is accompanied by the music Sare Jahan Se Accha on drums. As the waterfall turned into the hues of tricolor, people standing … [Read more...] about Ahead of Independence Day 2022, Old Video of Tricolour Waterfall Resurfaces on The Internet
In Defense of C. S. Lewis
The glistening citadel of this dateline does not in fact exist, but to children it can be more real than many an actual place: Cair Paravel is the capital of Narnia, the setting of what was, until Harry Potter, the world's best-selling fantasy series.
