Mekong River Commission to hold forum on Lao hydropower project Pham Tuan Phan, CEO at the MRC Secretariat The Mekong River Commission (MRC) will organise the first regional stakeholder forum on the Pak Lay hydropower project in Vientiane, Laos, on September 20-21, according to the MRC’s press release on August 30. Pak Lay will be the fourth hydroelectric facility to be built on the Mekong River as proposed by the Lao government, following Don Sahong, Xayaburi, and Pak Beng. The forum aims to provide information on the Pak Lay project and the MRC’s prior consultation process. Vietnam and France exchanged expertise in UN peacekeeping missions

The Hanoitimes - Professional knowledge and experience in military engineering in the United Nations peacekeeping missions were exchanged between the Vietnamese and French Ministries of Defence in Hanoi on June 25. The program is co-organized by the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (VPD) under the Ministry of National Defence and the French Defence Attaché Office in Hanoi in coordination with the International Organization of la Francophonie in Vietnam.   French expert introduces international standards for mine action prevention In his opening speech, VPD Director Colonel Hoang Kim Phung hailed Vietnam-France defence relations in recent years, especially cooperation in UN peacekeeping mission.  France’s support through this program is practical and valuable to Vietnam, contributing to consolidating fine relations between the two countries, he added. Belarus, Vietnam expect US$500 million bilateral trade Vietnam and Belarus will hold a Vietnam-Belarus Business Forum to boost trade exchange towards the US$500 two-way trade target in the future, has said Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. Joe Biden berates White House over ‘joke’ about John McCain’s health

Former Vice President Joe Biden said the Trump administration had "hit rock bottom" after it was reported White House aide Kelly Sadler mocked Sen. John McCain. During a discussion at the White House on Thursday on McCain's opposition to Trump's nominee for CIA director, Gina Haspel, Sadler reportedly said, "He’s dying anyway," so his opinion "doesn't matter."Sadler's reported remarks add to the Trump administration's troubled history with McCain.Former Vice President Joe Biden ripped into President Donald Trump's administration on Friday and said it "hit rock bottom" after reports that White House aide Kelly Sadler mocked Sen.
