PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc  welcomes Fumio Kishida, Chairman of the Policy Research Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan  (L). The government leader highlighted the sound development of Vietnam-Japan relations across  a variety of fields over the past 45 years, especially the higher level of political trust between the two nations. He thanked Kishida for his contributions to the bilateral ties in his capacity as Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance and hoped that ishida will continue his support for the bilateral cooperation. In reply, the Japanese official said he was glad to see that Japan has become a leading foreign investor in Vietnam again with a record number of more than 1,700 businesses investing in the Southeast Asian country. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Hanoi on Sunday, commencing his two-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The visit comes as the two countries are scheduled to celebrate the Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam during the 2019-20 period, the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on fundamental principles of Vietnam – Russia friendship in 2019 and the 70th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2020. Medvedev's trip aims to continue stepping up bilateral ties across politics, economy-trade, national defense-security, science-technology, education-training, culture-tourism, and locality-to-locality exchange, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
