Formula 1 broadcaster Martin Brundle has urged Gary Lineker not to "encourage reckless behaviour" after protesters ran onto the track at the British Grand Prix. Police had warned about the threat of protests heading into the weekend at Silverstone and several people managed to climb a fence and force their way past marshals and onto the track. F1 cars were making their way round the circuit after an early red flag and marshals frantically ran out the circuit, dragging off the individuals. Seven arrests have been made but Lineker appeared to side with the protesters - one of whom appeared on Good Morning Britain, declaring their actions a "success" due to the national attention it has received. Lineker said on Twitter : "If it’s not already too late, history will look back very favourably on these people." The Indian Photo Festival, which will start on August 19, will be used as a platform for building and marketing the Formula E race which will be held on February 11, 2023, Special Chief Secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) and Director General NIUM Arvind Kumar said on Wednesday. As international photographers will be participating in the month-long photo exhibition, showcasing the work of several photographers from 85 countries across the globe, they might also get to cover the Formula E team and vehicles, he said. The race will be held on a 2.37-km track in and around the under-construction Secretariat Complex, going through Lumbini Park near Hussainsagar Lake. “We are not going to remove the medians as there as fully grown trees and the committee has agreed to it. Stoffel Vandoorne clinched the Formula Electric World driver’s title on Sunday after finishing second in the season’s final race in Seoul in a Mercedes. Mercedes won the constructors’ world champion for the second year in a row but has already said it will leave the discipline next season. Swiss Edoardo Mortara in a Venturi won the race and finished third in the championship behind Belgian Vandoorne and New Zealander Mitch Evans in a Jaguar. “It’s the best feeling ever,” said Vandoorne a 30-year-old former Formula 1 driver. “It’s been a great season and the team has done a great job. Mitch and Edoardo have been pushing me all season but it’s all been about consistency. They have more wins than me but I have more podiums.” Although he has only won once this season, in Monaco, Vandoorne scored points in 15 of the 16 races and finished on the podium seven times. [YONHAP] Crowds of budding Korean motorsports fans flocked to Jamsil Sports Complex in Jamsil, southern Seoul on Sunday for the finale of the Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix and the final race of Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Rokit Ventura’s Edoardo Mortara topped the podium on Sunday with a time of 1:22.767, followed by Stoffel Vandoorne of Mercedes-EQ with 1:23.009 and Jake Dennis of Avalanche in third with 1:22.842. Formula One’s governing body approved engine regulations for 2026 on Tuesday, an eagerly-awaited move that could lead to the arrival of premium Volkswagen Group brands Porsche and Audi. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said its World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) also updated the 2022 and 2023 technical rules to address safety concerns. Emil Forsberg swapped the football pitch for the drivers' seat as he took a Formula 1 car for a spin on the streets of Leipzig. Red Bull are known for turning heads by taking some of their former cars out for a spin on public roads. The residents of Leipzig were the latest to be treated to such a spectacle, as one of the energy drinks giant's football stars joined forces with their F1 team. Ahead of RB Leipzig's first home game of the season, against Koln, F1 legend David Coulthard visited the German city to meet Forsberg and take a unique tour of its sights. And they did so in a specially converted two-seater car. The 720bhp machine boasts a V10 engine and is capable of speeds up to 200mph.
