In the Bay Area, rainy conditions are expected Friday through Sunday as two storms impact the region, with long-range models suggesting more storms on the horizon, according to the National Weather Service. In the Sierra Nevada, a winter storm watch is in effect from 4 p.m. Friday thorough 4 a.m. Monday. The weather service expects snow levels to drop as low as 2,500 feet, with 2 to 3 feet of new snow expected. Following a weaker storm Friday, a stronger and wetter system should deliver rain throughout the Bay Area on Sunday, with the heaviest downpours in the North Bay, according to the weather service. Estimated rainfall totals for Bay Area cities include 2 inches in Santa Rosa, 1.5 inches in San Francisco, 1.25 inches in Oakland and two-thirds of an inch in San Jose. A snow storm expected to hit Colorado Saturday has gained a bit of strength and is forecast to drop more snow than initially expected, meteorologists say.The National Weather Service in Pueblo predicted a high of 59 degrees Friday with mostly sunny skies before snow moves into the Pikes Peak region. Chances of snow Saturday are 30 percent after 11 a.m., increasing to 40 percent Saturday night until about 11 p.m.Previous forecasts called for a 20 percent chance of snow all day. The hot, dry weather will be punctuated in dramatic fashion on Friday, with the risk of thunderstorms bringing up to 20mm of rain in an hour. TROPICAL Storm Chris is racing across the Atlantic and may influence Britain's recent spell of hot weather. Brits may be lashed with heavy downpours and strong winds next in mid-July. Here's what we know... Where is storm Chris now? Storm Chris is currently building on America's eastern coast. It is expected to pick up hurricane speed winds at sea as it brings cooler temperatures and damp conditions for the UK. Early on July 10, the storm was about 210 miles (340 km) south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Chris had maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour (110 km/h).
