Playful dog halts soccer game after invading pitch for strokes—”Red card”
An international soccer match in Chile took an unexpected turn over the weekend after a pitch invading dog halted play. On Saturday, the Chile women's national soccer team played host to South American rivals Venezuela at the Estadio La Granja, Curicó. A friendly match serving as a warm-up for the Copa América Femenina, the game wasn't exactly action-packed with Chile mustering just one shot on target and Venezuela ultimately triumphing 1-0 thanks to a brilliant Mariana Speckmaier goal eight minutes from time. However, by then, the match's main highlight had already been and gone. That came in the 37th minute when, for reasons still unknown, a dog decided to run onto the pitch. Pitch invaders are nothing new in the world of soccer, but dog interlopers are a little less common. There are myriad reasons why someone may want to enter the field of play. Some do it for attention , others to protest a particular issue. Then are those who simply get carried away by the … [Read more...] about Playful dog halts soccer game after invading pitch for strokes—”Red card”

Matt Fitzpatrick echoes Tiger Woods in firm stance against Saudi breakaway series
English golf star Matt Fitzpatrick has echoed the opinion of golf legend Tiger Woods , after making the decision to decline a mega-money switch to the LIV Invitational Golf Series in search of ‘legacies and trophies’. The Saudi-backed series led by former world No. 1 Greg Norman has sent shockwaves around the world of golf in recent months, as it looks to lure some of the sport’s biggest names away from the DP World and PGA Tours. After plenty of speculation the entry list for the breakaway circuit’s inaugural event at Centurion Club was released on Wednesday ahead of the first tee off next week. The likes of Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia were all included, but one man who was not on the list is Fitzpatrick. On Monday, DeChambeau said: “There was a lot of financials to it and a lot of time. Tribute to Ustad Lachchman Singh Seen, a pillar of the Punjab gharana
When Ustad Lachchman Singh Seen, a Himachali Rajput, passed away recently, he was identified more with Punjab and the tabla, since he was the last celebrated disciple of Punjab gharana doyen, Ustad Mian Qadir Baksh. Lachchman Singh received extensive training in Lahore, before returning to his home in Jammu after Partition. Shortly after, Jalandhar became his home. Though he was primarily known as an exponent of the tabla, Lachchman Singh had also trained in sitar, in Jammu, and remained deeply connected with the instrument, teaching at the famous Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya in Jalandhar . Punjab was a centre of music in those days. Says Purnima Beri, who has been organising the 146-year-old Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan , “I remember hearing from my father Balbir Singh Mehta, (who was closely associated with music, and both the premier festivals in Punjab, Harivallabh as well as the 107-year-old Lakshminarayan Sabha in Amritsar) that if there was ever a ‘baithak’ anywhere, … [Read more...] about Tribute to Ustad Lachchman Singh Seen, a pillar of the Punjab gharana
