FIFA on Monday suspended the Indian football federation with “immediate effect due to undue influence from third parties”, jeopardising the country’s staging of the U-17 Women’s World Cup in October. World football’s governing body called the infraction a “serious violation of the FIFA Statutes”. The suspension will remain in place until the All India Football Federation (AIFF) regains full control of its daily affairs, FIFA said in a statement. The AIFF is in disarray and being run by administrators after former chief Praful Patel stayed in office beyond his term without fresh elections, which courts ruled invalid. India is due to host the U-17 Women’s World Cup from October 11-30. The 2020 tournament in India was cancelled and then postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. A group of Rome High School football players used strength and courage to save a woman’s life recently in Georgia. Friday started out normal until the players saw a major car crash occur in front of their school, Fox 5 reported . The young men whose names are Antwion Carey, Alto Moore, Tyson Brown, Cesar Parker and Treyvon Adams, had just arrived when the incident took place and they knew it was up to them to respond. The students ran toward the driver and realized she was trapped inside the vehicle with no way to escape on her own. Travellers described how 'one of worst' ever mid-air flight attacks left a crew member with a broken and bloodied nose. The American Airlines flight attendant was allegedly punched in the face twice by the passenger on its journey from JFK Airport in New York City to Santa Ana, California. Flight 976 landed in Denver, where police "removed and apprehended the passenger," according to the airline. CEO of American Airlines, Doug Parker, said in a statement on social media that the company is supporting the injured flight attendant. Committee of Administrators (CoA) appointed by the Supreme Court of India filed a contempt petition on Wednesday in the apex court against former Indian football chief and NCP leader Praful Patel. The petition accused Patel of “impliedly” admitting to having “arranged” a letter from world football governing body FIFA and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) threatening a ban on India. In the petition, the CoA has also named seven other Indian football administrators along with Patel for allegedly interfering in the “administration of justice, and the willful and flagrant disobedience” of Supreme Court orders. World football governing body FIFA has informed the Sports Ministry that it remains firm in its opposition to individual members’ inclusion in the electoral college for the upcoming All India Football Federation (AIFF) elections. Seeking clarity on FIFA’s demands and the sports ministry’s stand on the Indian football imbroglio, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Monday received a communication from the ministry, sources in the know of things said. “In the letter, the union sports ministry has mentioned everything about the suggestions given by FIFA during their meeting with the ministry,” a source said. FIFA wants individual members of the electoral college to come from the state associations and other entities. The letter from the ministry was received a day after the CoA wrote to them asking for concrete advice based on FIFA’s requirements and the ministry’s stand on the same.
