Polestar is giving the public a glimpse of its future by showing off a development prototype of the Polestar 5 at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed this week. The all-electric grand touring sedan is the latest iteration of the Polestar Precept concept that was first unveiled in 2020. "Polestar 5 is shaping up to be a superb 4-door GT and a true Polestar at heart," Polestar UK head of R&D Pete Allen said in a press release. "The platform combines low-volume performance car attributes with modern technological advances to bring light-weight, high-rigidity sports car chassis technology into mass production." It features a lightweight aluminum chassis, with the styling of a grand touring car. Eschewing the boxy design of the Polestar 2 sedan, the 5 opts for a more rounded approach, with boomerang headlights and thin tail lights at the edges of the car. Industries and IT Minister K.T.Rama Rao met Foxconn Chairman Young Liu in New Delhi on Thursday and showcased the State, especially the policy initiatives for investors. Taiwan-based Hon Hai Technology Group, which is behind Foxconn, is one of the leading electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers globally and largest suppliers for many top tier international customers. Foxconn has manufacturing units in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. A release from the Minister’s office said Mr.Rao and Mr.Liu discussed Foxconn’s plans of expanding footprint in India. Electricity Minister K. Krishnankutty has stressed the need for affordable technologies to take clean energy to the masses. Speaking after inaugurating the Clean Energy Innovation and Business Incubation Centre (CEIBIC), a joint initiative of the Energy Management Centre, the Clean Energy International Incubation Centre and the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K- DISC), here on Wednesday, he called on the scientific community to think of producing cheap electricity from thorium deposits in Kerala. Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) officials booked six motorcyclists for illegal alteration of vehicles as part of Operation Race, a State-wide campaign for tightening enforcement against speeding motorists and illegal alteration of vehicles, which got under way on Wednesday. The Ernakulam Regional Transport Office (Enforcement) under Regional Transport Officer G. Ananthakrishnan had deployed three squads for the campaign in the district. A black bear that got stuck in a hot car in Sevierville, Tennessee , has died from heatstroke , wildlife officials say. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) said the bear entered the parked car outside a rental cabin, using its teeth or paws to open the door. The door then shut behind it, leaving the bear stuck inside the vehicle . With temperatures outside being nearly 95 degrees that day, the TWRA estimates that the vehicle's interior could have reached over 140 degrees. The owner of the car came back at around 6:45 p.m. local time and discovered the bear had died. Tennessee is currently in the clutches of a heatwave . Temperatures in Sevierville are currently hovering around the 90 degree mark and are expected to climb over the next 10 days. Bears and other furry mammals cannot sweat like humans do, so they are less able to regulate their body temperature when it gets too hot, eventually leading to organ failure and death.
