But despite promising abortion information and free pregnancy testing, the facility in Charleston, West Virginia, is designed to steer women facing an unwanted pregnancy away from choosing an abortion. That will become much easier now that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that states like West Virginia can make abortion illegal. It's one of hundreds of so-called crisis pregnancy centers nationwide whose aim is to discourage women from seeking abortions. The facilities, which have been accused repeatedly of deceiving women about their true purpose, are expected to wield even more influence in states where the dwindling number of clinics are now canceling abortion appointments. Often religiously affiliated, the anti-abortion centers are not licensed medical facilities and do not … [Read more...] about Anti-abortion centers to grow, wield more influence post-Roe

May 23, 2022 by www.news18.com

In a week of high volatility, bulls made a comeback on the D-street on Friday, May 20, 2022, thanks to sharp buying, which ended the five-week losing streak of the benchmark indices. At Friday’s close, Nifty was up 456.7 points or 2.89 per cent at 16,266 levels. Volumes on the NSE were a little below recent averages. Among sectors realty, metals, capital goods, and healthcare indices have gained the most. Advance decline ratio is sharply positive as well. Speaking on the Indian stock market , Sonam Srivastava, Founder at Wright Research said, “This week saw a surprising rebound, but hardly anyone is convinced that this rebound would stick, given the doom and gloom narrative from inflation watchers and central bankers. Autos and FMCG have led the pack this week, and Metals have also shown a steep recovery; nevertheless, the rise of defensives and commodities is a classic bear market move. As a result, the next few weeks will be weeks of caution and risk management.” Vinod Nair, … [Read more...] about Stock Market This Week: F&O expiry, Fed Meeting, Other Factors to Watch Out For

Planned Parenthood ‘Baby Parts’ Exposé Changes Abortion Debate

July 14, 2016 by www.breitbart.com

The pro-life group Center for Medical Progress (CMP) is releasing a video on the first anniversary of its undercover exposé unmasking Planned Parenthood’s abortion business. The series of videos last summer also exposed Planned Parenthood’s apparent practices of selling the body parts of babies it aborts on the open market and altering the position of babies during abortions in order to harvest their most intact organs. The story of the abortion giant’s alleged practices and those of biomedical procurement company StemExpress went viral last summer with the American public, leading to congressional investigations into Planned Parenthood and the entire abortion industry. The CMP video series changed the national debate about abortion by featuring discussions and negotiations with high-level Planned Parenthood medical directors and executives, who eat lunch and drink wine while haggling over prices for fetal organs. “As more details and evidence continue to emerge in the … [Read more...] about Planned Parenthood ‘Baby Parts’ Exposé Changes Abortion Debate

June 27, 2022 by www.news18.com

US President Joe Biden and other G7 leaders have unveiled ambitious plans to mobilise USD 600 billion in funding by 2027 to deliver transparent and game-changing infrastructure projects in developing countries like India, in a move seen as a counter to China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) unveiled on Sunday during the G7 Summit relaunches a scheme unveiled at last year’s G7 talks in England. President Biden said the plan would deliver returns for everyone. “Today, the nations of the G7 launched the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII),” Biden said. “Collectively, we aim to mobilise nearly USD 600 billion from the G7 by 2027 to invest in critical infrastructure that improves lives and delivers real gains for all of our people,” he tweeted. “I want to be clear the G7’s announcement of a new global infrastructure partnership isn’t aid or charity. Amma Unavagams losing sheen

June 17, 2022 by www.thehindu.com

Amma Unavagams in Tiruchi are losing steam due to laxity in their functioning and poor patronage. Customers feel that the canteens have lost its sheen over the years. Lack of adequate funds, infrastructure and poor management are some of the reasons attributed to the downfall of Amma canteens, according to the regulars and staff at the canteens. The self-help groups (SHGs) who run the canteens claim that there is less patronage now. “Lesser variety of food, failure to upgrade the menu, poor maintenance, infrastructural issues had led to a fall in patronage. People complain about lack of varieties, especially for breakfast and dinner,” said a staff in one of the canteens. According to Anbu, a regular customer, the canteen lacks cleanliness and is in a bad condition. "The dining space and tables are not cleaned regularly, and food is spilt all over. The canteens must be maintained properly.” Out of the 11 canteens, only a few get 300 to 400 customers a day, while the others have … [Read more...] about Amma Unavagams losing sheen

San Diego County man sentenced to 30 days in prison for Capitol breach

June 28, 2022 by www.latimes.com

A San Diego County man was sentenced Monday to 30 days in prison for his role in the U.S. Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. Philip Weisbecker, 51, pleaded guilty in March to one misdemeanor count of parading or demonstrating in the Capitol. He is among a handful of people with San Diego ties who have been charged or linked to the Capitol breach . His attorney on Monday argued for a sentence of time served during a virtual hearing in Washington, D.C., where the massive federal prosecution is based. Prosecutors asked for three months in prison. The judge settled on 30 days of custody, which can be served intermittently on weekends if desired, along with two years of probation. Weisbecker had already agreed to pay $500 in restitution as part of his plea agreement to help cover damage to the Capitol. In a sentencing memorandum filed before the hearing, his lawyer said Weisbecker was influenced by “media manipulation” of the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 and President … [Read more...] about San Diego County man sentenced to 30 days in prison for Capitol breach

Choo lobbies companies to limit salary increases

June 28, 2022 by koreajoongangdaily.joins.com

Finance Minister Choo Kyoung-ho, third from left, attends a meeting with members of the Korea Enterprises Federation in Mapo, Seoul, on Tuesday. [JOINT PRESS CORPS] Finance Minister Choo Kyung-ho is pushing private enterprises to contain salaries as the government tries everything to control prices without shutting down the economy. In a meeting with the Korean Enterprises Federation, he said that high pay at tech companies and other large enterprises are starting to influence the broader market for employees. Wage-push inflation, whereby prices of goods and services are driven up to cover higher payroll, is now a distinct possibility. "Excessive wage rises not only worsen the inflation situation but also widens the wage gap between large and small companies," Choo said, adding that the dynamic will starve smaller companies of  talented workers. "Also, it won't be easy for companies to maintain competitiveness paying high wages and high costs" Choo said. While stressing … [Read more...] about Choo lobbies companies to limit salary increases
