Emil Forsberg swapped the football pitch for the drivers' seat as he took a Formula 1 car for a spin on the streets of Leipzig. Red Bull are known for turning heads by taking some of their former cars out for a spin on public roads. The residents of Leipzig were the latest to be treated to such a spectacle, as one of the energy drinks giant's football stars joined forces with their F1 team. Ahead of RB Leipzig's first home game of the season, against Koln, F1 legend David Coulthard visited the German city to meet Forsberg and take a unique tour of its sights. And they did so in a specially converted two-seater car. The 720bhp machine boasts a V10 engine and is capable of speeds up to 200mph. Given they were on public roads there weren't able to take it to the limit, but Forsberg had the chance to don a race suit and helmet as he climbed into the car with Coulthard and took to the streets. The midfielder took the Scottish racing driver to some of his favourite spots … [Read more...] about RB Leipzig ace Emil Forsberg turns heads as he drives F1 car around city with racing icon

Sir Richard Branson planning to save Honda’s F1 team
Sir Richard Branson is bidding to pull off a staggering 11th hour coup to save the Honda F1 team. The billionaire adventurer is in secret talks with the Tokyo-based owners of the Brackley operation. But he is in a race against time to save Jenson Button's career and the jobs of the 700-strong workforce with just over five weeks to the opening race in Australia. Workers at the Honda factory were last night said to be overjoyed at the prospect of Branson taking the helm. "It would be good for the sport and the whole team if Virgin got the deal," said one insider. "News of it has got everyone buzzing again." Branson is only waiting on the final nod from the team's owners, ailing car giant Honda, for the deal to go ahead. Honda are willing to part with the team for nothing if their long-term future is secured and Mercedes have offered to supply competitive engines for around £7million. But with no word from Tokyo and time running out to test the car, Branson's rescue mission … [Read more...] about Sir Richard Branson planning to save Honda’s F1 team
Monaco Must Pay More to Stay on F1 Calendar Says McLaren Boss
If Monaco is to maintain its spot on the Formula One calendar it is going to have to pay more, McLaren boss Zak Brown has said. The glitzy principality on the Mediterranean coast has staged Formula One’s signature race since the first world championship season in 1950 but Brown indicated that unless Monaco is willing to reach a commercial agreement more in line with other races it risks being dropped from the schedule. IPL 2022 – FULL COVERAGE | SCHEDULE | RESULTS | ORANGE CAP | PURPLE CAP | POINTS TABLE ”I think Monaco has had a very advantageous commercial agreement with Formula One forever and I think all Formula One is trying to do is get a commercial agreement in place that is more consistent with the other venues while recognising its importance on the calendar,” Brown said on Friday. ”But I think Formula One is now the size and scope that it is bigger than any one team, any one driver, any one race.” , he added at the Indianapolis 500 where McLaren Arrow … [Read more...] about Monaco Must Pay More to Stay on F1 Calendar Says McLaren Boss
Motor Racing: U.S. Grand Prix Promoter Hopes F1 Title Battle Goes Beyond Austin
U.S. Grand Prix promoter Bobby Epstein has twice seen the Formula One title settled at his Austin track but this year he hopes the battle goes on for longer.Red Bull’s reigning world champion Max Verstappen is 80 points clear of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc with nine races remaining. It now looks highly unlikely the fight will go down to the wire, as happened last year in the battle to the last lap between the Dutch driver and Mercedes’ seven times world champion Lewis Hamilton. The title was decided at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas (COTA), race 19 of 22 this year, in 2015 and 2019 with Hamilton triumphant. “I have to say that when we get the championship concluded here, it’s less exciting than when it comes down to the last lap of the last race,” Epstein, whose Oct. 23 round is sold out, told Reuters. “We could easily eclipse (last year’s crowd) if we put (more) tickets on sale,” said Epstein. “Our capacity is less constrained by the on-campus facilities than by wanting to get … [Read more...] about Motor Racing: U.S. Grand Prix Promoter Hopes F1 Title Battle Goes Beyond Austin
The humble Mini leaves supercars trailing to be named Britain’s best-ever motor
It was as much a symbol of the Swinging Sixties as the skirt that shared its name. Now the original Mini has been voted Britain’s best-ever car. The iconic motor – dubbed the first “classless car” – saw off its posh rivals, with the McLaren F1, the Jaguar E-type and the Range Rover trailing behind. James Bond’s favoured Aston Martin DB5 could only manage eighth spot. The Mini came out top in a poll of Autocar readers, who also named Norfolk-based Lotus as the most popular British car manufacturer. Best British Cars View gallery Created by Sir Alec Issigonis in 1959, the Mini became part of the Sixties British pop culture of the Beatles, Twiggy and Carnaby Street. A fleet of the cars also famously featured in cult Michael Caine heist movie The Italian Job. The marque was successfully revived in a larger version by BMW in 2003. Autocar brand editor Chas Hallett said: “The Mini is associated with Great Britain around the world and, in many ways, it was … [Read more...] about The humble Mini leaves supercars trailing to be named Britain’s best-ever motor
Motorsports Gone Mad: Silly season spins out of control
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 11 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Fernando Alonso created this mess, right? Or was it IndyCar champion Alex Palou? Maybe the blame should be aimed at McLaren Racing head Zak Brown? After all, he’s the one stockpiling just about anyone who can drive a race car in a motorsports silly season in which the domino effects stretch three series, across the globe and into at least one courtroom. Palou perhaps kicked it all off a month ago. Chip Ganassi said he'd picked up the team option on the Spaniard's contract for next season, but the driver denounced the team-issued news release and said he would not be returning in 2023. Minutes later McLaren said it had signed Palou. Ganassi is now suing Palou, who says emphatically he'll be with McLaren next season, and the entire IndyCar paddock has watched wide-eyed as each race weekend brings a new … [Read more...] about Motorsports Gone Mad: Silly season spins out of control

Renault-owned Alpine announced highly-rated Piastri last week as replacement for double world champion Fernando Alonso in their 2023 lineup but the 21-year-old has ruled it out. Martin Brundle hits back at Gary Lineker in row over Formula 1 protestors
Formula 1 broadcaster Martin Brundle has urged Gary Lineker not to "encourage reckless behaviour" after protesters ran onto the track at the British Grand Prix. Police had warned about the threat of protests heading into the weekend at Silverstone and several people managed to climb a fence and force their way past marshals and onto the track. F1 cars were making their way round the circuit after an early red flag and marshals frantically ran out the circuit, dragging off the individuals. Seven arrests have been made but Lineker appeared to side with the protesters - one of whom appeared on Good Morning Britain, declaring their actions a "success" due to the national attention it has received. Bucket Hats Are Having a Hollywood Moment — Here Are the Best Bucket Looks For Right Now
Click here to read the full article. If anyone is able to make a self-deprecating and comically bad action hero named Lady Bug swoon-worthy it’s Brad Pitt , whose most embarrassing moments in “ Bullet Train ” (like getting sprayed in the face with a bidet or losing his train ticket within minutes) is made just an ounce less cringe by the coolness factor afforded to him by a stylish outfit — namely, a floppy white bucket hat and wide-rimmed glasses that remain his staple accessories throughout most of the film. The first time you see Pitt without the floppy headwear is when it’s forced off him while in a showdown against Bad Bunny in a desolate train cabin (Bad Bunny is one of the first casualties as half a dozen assassins attempt to kill each other on board the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto to get their hands on a briefcase full of cash). Once Lady Bug successfully stabs him in the heart and cleans up the mess, he swiftly puts the hat back on, not a single blood stain to … [Read more...] about Bucket Hats Are Having a Hollywood Moment — Here Are the Best Bucket Looks For Right Now
