Trump Approves $300 Million Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System Sale To Qatar
World Qatar The U.S. State Department has given the go-ahead for $300 million in arms sales to Qatar as the country’s emir arrives in Washington, DC, for his first meeting with President Donald Trump. A Defense Security Cooperation Agency press release said the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS) II guidance section deal “supports the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States.” The APKWS II system turns Hydra 70 air-to-surface rockets into laser-guided, precision munitions. The deal will allow 5,000 APKWS IIs to be sold to Qatar and provide all training and technical assistance required for their operation. “The APKWS will provide Qatar with a low-cost precision strike capability, decreasing collateral damage and expanding its options for counterterrorism operations,” the statement said. The e-court fee system is an “advocate and litigant-centric initiative” of the Tamil Nadu government’s Central Record Keeping Agency, the high court and the Stock Holding Corporation of India which worked together to develop this application. The service will start from April 20 initially for the Principal Bench of Madras High Court at Madras and the Madurai Bench. A user manual for the e-court fee system is available on the website of Madras High Court. Report: Israeli Strike Targeted Advanced Iranian Air Defense System in Syria
The Times of Israel reports: An alleged Israeli strike on an air base in central Syria on April 9 targeted a soon-to-be-deployed Iranian advanced air defense system and a drone hangar, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. The article also confirmed that several days beforehand Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alerted the White House of the IDF’s plans to carry out the strike on the T-4 air base, which killed at least seven Iranian soldiers, including a senior officer, and sparked a near unprecedented level of public threats between Tehran and Jerusalem.The target of the April strike was a Russian-made Tor missile defense system, which is designed to “destroy aircraft, helicopters, drones, guided missiles and other precision weapons flying at medium, low, and extremely low altitudes, in difficult air and jamming environments,” according to its manufacturer.
