World International Affairs Donald Trump Russia has responded to the White House's latest announcement in regards to U.S. policy in Syria, expressing confusion over what appeared to be the latest turn in President Donald Trump's strategy there. Trump initially surprised observers—and reportedly his own staff as well—in December by announcing a total withdrawal of the roughly 2,000 U.S. troops in Syria, where they had been supporting mostly Kurdish forces battling the Islamic State militant group (ISIS). The details of the pullout have since remained unclear, however, and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders revealed Thursday that "a small peacekeeping group of about 200 will remain in Syria for a period of time." Russia too was involved in the anti-ISIS fight, but on the side of the Syrian government, which considered U.S. presence illegal due to its attempts to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. World Donald Trump International Affairs President Donald Trump has publicly called for authorities to investigate primetime comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live over its humorous depictions of his presidency, but the Republican leader has inspired countless satirical portrayals across the globe as well. The latest controversy erupted after Trump took to Twitter in response to an SNL skit aired over the weekend, which imagined a world if Hillary Clinton would have won the 2016 presidential election in a riff of the 1946 Christmas classic It's A Wonderful Life entitled "It's A Wonderful Trump." In the sketch, Alec Baldwin reprises his role as Trump, who is shown a much happier, alternate reality in which he is not in office. World Donald Trump President Donald Trump has tied ongoing protests in France to a landmark climate deal that he pulled the United States out of last year. In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Trump defended his decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate agreement, a historic international commitment to battle carbon emissions, by pointing out the social unrest gripping France in response a controversial carbon tax proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron. "The Paris Accord is not working out too well for Paris. Because of that accord, the whole country is burning down," Trump claimed.
