Donald Trump: John Cornyn Helping ‘Radical Left Democrats’ Implement Gun Control

June 23, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Former President Donald Trump referred to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) as a RINO on Wednesday and warned he is helping “radical left Democrats” implement gun control. The Hill reported Trump made his comments on social media, writing: The deal on ‘Gun Control’ currently being structured and pushed in the Senate by the Radical Left Democrats, with the help of Mitch McConnell, RINO Senator John Cornyn of Texas, and others, will go down in history as the first step in the movement to TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY. Republicans, be careful what you wish for!!! Cornyn also faced pushback from the NRA this week, as they rejected the Cornyn gun control package as a piece of legislation that “falls short on every level.” The NRA noted, “This legislation can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans, & use fed dollars to fund gun control measures being adopted by state & local politicians.” On Saturday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) also … [Read more...] about Donald Trump: John Cornyn Helping ‘Radical Left Democrats’ Implement Gun Control

At 200 miles completed, Donald Trump’s border wall is still way off track

June 22, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

President Donald Trump is reportedly set to visit Yuma, Arizona on Tuesday to mark the completion of the 200th mile of the border wall he vowed to build between the U.S. and Mexico during his 2016 election campaign. White House officials told the Yuma Sun that Trump was expected to be joined by Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf, Acting Deputy DHS Secretary Ken Cuccinelli, and Customs and Border Protection Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan for the occasion. The president is expected to receive a briefing on border wall construction progress during the visit, as well as participate in a roundtable discussion on border security with community leaders and elected officials in the area. While Trump may be looking to celebrate the latest milestone in his border wall project, the occasion also shines a light on just how far off his administration is from fulfilling his promise to get at least 450 miles of border wall built before the end of 2020. Donald Trump’s new border wall contract will cost more than $30 million per mile

May 20, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

The Trump administration has reportedly signed its biggest border wall contract yet, awarding a North Dakota construction firm a nearly $1.3 billion deal to put up fencing in Arizona. Fisher Sand and Gravel, the construction firm awarded the contract, is expected to see 42 miles of black-painted fencing erected across the mountainous terrain of southern Arizona, according to The Washington Post. Given the deal's $1.28 billion price tag, that works out to a cost of more than $30 million per mile. Previously, Fisher Sand and Gravel had been passed over for other border wall construction projects. However, the North Dakota firm reportedly gained President Donald Trump's support in White House meetings after Tommy Fisher, the company's CEO, praised the president on cable news and made donations to Trump's GOP allies. The company's only other major border contract, a $400 million deal to build 31 miles of border wall across the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge southwest of … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s new border wall contract will cost more than $30 million per mile

Jan. 6 committee names GOP lawmakers who asked Donald Trump for pardon

June 23, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

The House committee investigating the January 6 attack have released the names of several Republican members of Congress who allegedly asked former President Donald Trump for a pardon following the violent storming of the U.S. Capitol. The House January 6 select committee hearing on Thursday revealed that Representatives Matt Gaetz of Florida, Mo Brooks of Alabama, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Andy Biggs of Arizona and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania were among the Republicans who sought the pardons. Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, also said that she had heard from a different person that GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia sought a pardon, according to Raw Story. "The general tone was, 'We may get prosecuted because we were defensive of the president's positions on these things,'" former White House counsel Eric Herschmann said of the requests in testimony that played on Thursday. Herschmann said that the … [Read more...] about Jan. 6 committee names GOP lawmakers who asked Donald Trump for pardon

Here are all the times, since Charlottesville, that Donald Trump didn’t quite condemn tiki torch Nazis

August 11, 2018 by www.newsweek.com

This weekend marks the one year anniversary of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that left over 30 people injured and one young woman dead, and Donald Trump is still not quite condemning white supremacy. The president sent out a social media post on Saturday morning, writing that the riots resulted in "senseless death and division" and that he condemns "all types of racism." He does not write any specific denouncement of the alt-right or white supremacist neo-Nazi groups that were present at the events that day. The vague and general statement is not the first that the president has put out since the events at Charlottesville last year. In fact, his tweet today largely resembles the one that he sent out on August 12, 2017, after James Alex Fields Jr. drove a car into a crowd of protesters, killing 32-year-old paralegal Heather Heyer. Later that same day, in a press conference in New Jersey, Trump said that "we condemn in the strongest possible terms this … [Read more...] about Here are all the times, since Charlottesville, that Donald Trump didn’t quite condemn tiki torch Nazis

Donald Trump “not fit… to be in this country”: U.S. Supreme Court lawyer

June 24, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

An attorney who has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court said that former President Donald Trump is not only unfit to be president, but he's unfit "to be in this country." Former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal told MSNBC 's Deadline White House on Thursday that the fifth day of hearings by the House Select Committee investigating January 6, 2021, had painted a picture of Trump as a "third-rate dictator." The committee heard from former acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen and former acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue on Thursday, who alleged Trump had pressured the Department of Justice (DOJ) to declare the 2020 presidential election "corrupt." MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace asked Katyal for his reaction to the testimony on the fifth day of hearings. Katyal said that Donoghue's testimony was "the soul of the Justice Department. It's not political," and pointed out that he had personally worked for two attorneys general who pursued both Republicans and … [Read more...] about Donald Trump “not fit… to be in this country”: U.S. Supreme Court lawyer

Have the Jan.6 Hearings Hurt Donald Trump?: Analysis

June 24, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

After the committee investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots has held five hearings, there is still a question as to just how much damage the hearings will actually do to former President Donald Trump . The House Select Committee, which has spent a year investigating the events which led up to the Capitol riot, had been building up to proceedings in the weeks and months before the first live televised presentation, promising to deliver evidence that some hoped would force the Department of Justice to act and charge the former president. However, there is no guarantee that Attorney General Merrick Garland will take the unprecedented step and charge the former president with a crime over his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results or incitement of his supporters to storm the Capitol as a last-ditch attempt to hold onto power. Even if no charges are brought against Trump or any of his allies, there is still hope from the panel that their findings … [Read more...] about Have the Jan.6 Hearings Hurt Donald Trump?: Analysis

What Ron DeSantis has said about Jan. 6 as Donald Trump under pressure

June 24, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

After the Congressional committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has held its fifth televised hearing , one person who may be thrilled with how proceedings have gone so far is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis . The panel has presented a host of evidence to suggest that Donald Trump was personally involved in a number of schemes and plots to overturn the 2020 election results, despite knowing some of the tactics were illegal. With the hearings set to continue in July , Trump will likely face continued pressure as more evidence comes in, which ultimately could result in the Department of Justice launching criminal proceedings against the former president. Even if he is not indicted, Trump also risks being barred from running for office again over allegations he was a part of an insurrection attempt, which could end up playing in DeSantis' favor. While neither Trump nor DeSantis have announced their intentions to run for the presidency in 2024, … [Read more...] about What Ron DeSantis has said about Jan. 6 as Donald Trump under pressure

Donald Trump’s approval rating hits record low in yet another poll

December 13, 2017 by www.newsweek.com

(Not) so much winning at the White House. President Donald Trump's job-approval rating has hit its lowest point in the Monmouth University poll since he took office in January, the independent research group said Wednesday. More than half of those Monmouth polled, 56 percent, disapprove of the job Trump is doing—and he's lost substantial ground among women and independents. About 68 percent of women surveyed, or more than two-thirds, said they disapproved of the president's performance, up from 55 percent who said they disapproved when polled by Monmouth in May. About 44 percent of men disapproved of Trump's work, up from 42 percent in September. Within Trump's Republican Party, the commander in chief's positive ratings fell by 9 points among women and by 5 points among men since September, Monmouth reported. Notably, "the biggest drop has occurred among independent women," Monmouth said in a summary of its findings. "Just 14 percent currently approve of Trump's job … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s approval rating hits record low in yet another poll

Poll: Donald Trump Leads Joe Biden in Potential 2024 Matchup

June 25, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in a potential 2024 matchup, according to a McLaughlin & Associates poll released Friday. The poll asked, “If the general election for President were held today, would you be more likely to vote for Donald Trump, the Republican candidate or Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate?” Trump polled at 49 percent, while Biden slipped into the mid-40s at 44 percent, five points behind Trump. Seven percent were undecided. Trump also bested potential 2024 Republican primary candidates. The poll asked, “Thinking ahead to the 2024 Republican primary election for President, if that election were held today among the following candidates, for whom would you vote?” Trump received 59 percent of the vote, while Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) only received 15 percent, a 44 percent differential. Former Vice President Mike Pence came in third place with seven percent. The poll showed that if Trump decides to not run in 2024, DeSantis leads the … [Read more...] about Poll: Donald Trump Leads Joe Biden in Potential 2024 Matchup
