Free movement of people is one of the founding principles of the EU and is seen as a cornerstone of the concept of "European citizenship", which was created under the Maastricht Treaty of 1992. It gives the right to everyone in all EU members states - plus Norway, Iceland, Leichtenstein and Switzerland - to live and work in any other country in the group. It originally applied only to people who moved to another country to seek work. The 'Care to Fly' service aims to make the Italian capital Rome, the Eternal City, more accessible to arriving or departing passengers with a disability. Passengers can now book a door-to-flight transport from their address in Rome to either Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino as part of a complete assistance service for passengers with mobility difficulties. Those who reserve the service will then be met by the ADR Assistance personnel who will help disabled passengers complete the necessary procedures to board their flight. The ADR Assistance program, a specialised service at Italy's airports for disabled passengers, will help travellers with mobility difficulties to complete check in, pass through security controls and board their flights. An Eastbourne teacher who had to quit her job because the county council withdrew school transport for her disabled son is handing in a petition in Parliament this week. Leanna Forse’s 17-year-old son Billy has a rare chromosome disorder which means he cannot go to school on public transport and relied on a taxi to get him there, until its funding was withdrawn when he reached 16. Now Leanna, alongside Contact charity, is rallying Parliament to allow public-funded transport for disabled children up to the age of 18 – the age children have to legally go to school or training until.
