At least six Democrats have opted to play it safe and not voice support for a President Joe Biden 2024 reelection bid heading into the midterm elections. While voters have soured on Biden, with 64 percent of Democrats not supporting Biden’s 2024 reelection hopes, midterm candidates are following their electorate’s lead for fear that supporting the Democrat party’s leader will hurt them in their elections. According to a July 27 CNN poll, 75 percent of Democrat voters want Biden replaced atop the 2024 presidential ticket, up from 51 percent in February. Biden’s hopes of retaining reelection support came to a head on Tuesday when Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) declined to voice support for Biden in the primary debate for New York’s 12th congressional district. Nadler and Maloney are in a highly contested primary battle after state redistricting place them in the same district after serving in Congress for decades. “Too early to say,” Judiciary Committee … [Read more...] about Midterm Heat: 6 Democrats Fail to Support Joe Biden for Reelection

Biden: ‘I Would Not Rejoin’ TPP – I Would ‘Renegotiate’ It
During Wednesday’s CNN Democratic debate, 2020 presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden said that he would not rejoin the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and that he would renegotiate it. Moderator Dana Bash asked, “Would you or would you not rejoin the TPP, yes or no?” Biden answered, “I would not rejoin the [TPP] as it was initially put forward. I would insist that we renegotiate pieces of that with the Pacific nations that we had, in South America and North America, so that we could bring them together to hold China accountable for the rules of — us setting the rules of the road as to how trade should be conducted. Otherwise, they’re going to do exactly what they’re doing, fill the vacuum and run the table.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett … [Read more...] about Biden: ‘I Would Not Rejoin’ TPP – I Would ‘Renegotiate’ It
Woman Accuses Joe Biden of Inappropriate Touching at 2009 Fundraiser
A Connecticut woman has come forward to accuse former Vice President Joe Biden of inappropriate touching at a political fundraiser in Greenwich in 2009, the second allegation of its kind against the potential 2020 presidential contender in recent days. The accuser, Amy Lappos, a 43-year old non-profit freelancer, recounted the unsettling allegations in an interview with The Courant on Monday. “It wasn’t sexual, but he did grab me by the head,” Lappos said. “He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.” Lappos reportedly detailed the alleged incident in a post shared to the Facebook page “Connecticut Women in Politics” on Sunday as Nevada Democrat Assemblywoman Lucy Flores appeared on several cable news networks discussing her own allegations against the former vice president. In a revealing essay for The Cut , Flores alleged Biden kissed her on the back of her head and smelled … [Read more...] about Woman Accuses Joe Biden of Inappropriate Touching at 2009 Fundraiser
NY Dem’s Cringey Cleanup Attempt on Biden Comments Just Makes Things Worse
Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) is going to need to clean up her cleanup attempt. During a Thursday morning appearance on CNN’s New Day , the New York congresswoman was grilled by anchor Brianna Keilar on her recent claim that she believes that President Joe Biden would not run again for the White House. Those eyebrow-raising remarks came during a Tuesday night Democratic primary debate pitting her against fellow veteran lawmaker Jerry Nadler. “I don’t believe he’s running for re-election,” Maloney said when asked during the debate if Biden should run for a second term, a question that has been asked of Democratic lawmakers with increasing frequency. After attempting to backtrack on Wednesday , noting that she would support Biden “if he decides to run,” Maloney tried to explain her debate comments on Thursday while simultaneously heaping slavish praise upon the president. The results were absolutely cringeworthy. “Well, first of all, I think we owe a tremendous debt … [Read more...] about NY Dem’s Cringey Cleanup Attempt on Biden Comments Just Makes Things Worse
Dem Rep. Maloney Issues Apology to Biden over 2024 Remark — ‘I Want You to Run’
Thursday on CNN’s “New Day,” Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) apologized for her comment during the primary debate for New York’s 12th congressional district that President Joe Biden would not run for re-election in 2024. During the debate this week, Maloney was asked if Biden should run again in 2024, to which the New York Democrat replied, “I don’t believe he’s running for re-election.” On CNN, Maloney maintained that she still did not think Biden would run but said if he did, she “would be there 100 percent” behind him. “I probably should — Mr. President, I apologize,” Maloney stated. “I want you to run. I happen to think you won’t be running, but when you run or if you run, I will be there 100 percent.” She continued, “You have deserved it. You are a great president, and thank you for everything you’ve done for my state and all the states and all the cities in America. Thank you, Mr. President.” One of Maloney’s debate opponents, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), also refused to fully … [Read more...] about Dem Rep. Maloney Issues Apology to Biden over 2024 Remark — ‘I Want You to Run’
‘Shut Their Twitters Off’: Marty Walsh Rips Democrats Not Supporting Biden For 2024
Labor Secretary Marty Walsh ripped Democrats hesitant to support President Joe Biden running for a second term in 2024 on Friday. Several prominent Democrats have refused to openly support Biden’s second term. In a debate Tuesday night, Democratic New York Reps. Jerry Nadler and Carolyn Maloney were hesitant to answer whether they would support the president in the upcoming presidential election, with Maloney saying she does not believe he will run for re-election. Walsh touted the administration’s legislative victories and told some Democrats opposing Biden’s re-election to “shut their Twitters off” during a CNN appearance Friday morning. “Certainly some in my party need to take a step back and shut their Twitters off,” Walsh told CNN’s Jim Sciutto. “In the last six weeks, we’ve seen gas prices lowered at the pump for the last several weeks. That’s the fastest reduction in a decade. We’re seeing a major bill on infrastructure that people are going to see the investments in … [Read more...] about ‘Shut Their Twitters Off’: Marty Walsh Rips Democrats Not Supporting Biden For 2024
House GOP Presses Fact Checkers over Biden’s ‘Recession’ Definition
House Republicans are demanding answers from The Poynter Institute, one of the nation’s most impactful “fact-checkers,” over President Joe Biden’s definition of a “recession,” according to a letter exclusively obtained by Breitbart News. Although a standard definition of an economic recession is two consecutive fiscal quarters with negative GDP growth, Biden has argued that the term should not apply to the current U.S. economy. In a White House blog post last week, the Biden administration offered a new “holistic” definition of an economic recession. The White House wrote : What is a recession? While some maintain that two consecutive quarters of falling real GDP constitute a recession, that is neither the official definition nor the way economists evaluate the state of the business cycle. Instead, both official determinations of recessions and economists’ assessment of economic activity are based on a holistic look at the data—including the labor market, consumer and … [Read more...] about House GOP Presses Fact Checkers over Biden’s ‘Recession’ Definition
Democrats Poised to Spend $3.5 Trillion During Historic Inflation with Republican Help
President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats, with Republican help, are poised to spend $3.5 trillion during decades-high inflation. “Passage of the Inflation Reduction Act will make Biden one of the most legislatively successful presidents of the modern era,” Politico Playbook writers Ryan Lizza and Eugene Daniels wrote . Although congressional Democrats have only a four-member majority in the House and a one-member majority in the Senate, Biden has been able to pass a substantial legislative agenda. It is also notable that Biden has spent so much during the first half of his term in office. This includes: The $1.9 trillion American Recovery Act, Biden’s coronavirus relief bill The $550 billion so-called Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act The $280 billion Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) Act $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act As Politico noted, these expenditures amount to roughly $3.5 trillion and address many leftist … [Read more...] about Democrats Poised to Spend $3.5 Trillion During Historic Inflation with Republican Help
U.S. Senate passes Biden’s mega health, climate bill; House to vote next
Democrats pushed their election-year economic package to Senate passage Sunday, a hard-fought compromise less ambitious than President Joe Biden’s original domestic vision but one that still meets deep-rooted party goals of slowing global warming, moderating pharmaceutical costs and taxing immense corporations. The estimated $740 billion package heads next to the House, where lawmakers are poised to deliver on Biden's priorities, a stunning turnaround of what had seemed a lost and doomed effort that suddenly roared back to political life. Democrats held united, 51-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris casting the tie-breaking vote. “It's been a long, tough and winding road, but at last, at last we have arrived,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., ahead of final votes. “The Senate is making history. I am confident the Inflation Reduction Act will endure as one of the defining legislative measures of the 21st century.” Republican amendments shunned Senators … [Read more...] about U.S. Senate passes Biden’s mega health, climate bill; House to vote next
America’s economy is in trouble. The Biden administration can help fix it | Opinion
A few weeks ago we learned that the U.S. GDP shrank by an annualized 0.9 percent during the second quarter, marking the second straight quarter of negative GDP growth. Of course, two consecutive quarters of negative growth has long been accepted as the technical definition of a recession—or so we thought. Politicians and media personalities in Washington D.C. spent a good portion of recent weeks in a peculiar rhetorical debate over the definition of the word "recession." This fight over semantics completely missed the point. It doesn't really matter whether we are technically in a recession or not. What matters is that the American economy is in trouble and hard-working families are feeling the pain. We are in the midst of the worst inflationary spike in 40 years, and it shows no signs of easing. Prices for everyday goods and services are through the roof. The cost of gas has more than doubled since the day Joe Biden took office. Rents are surging and, thanks to high prices and … [Read more...] about America’s economy is in trouble.
