MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance said Friday on “José Díaz-Balart Reports” that the Supreme Court ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was a “very dark day in America.” Vance said, “In this country, we’re so used to the courts as the guarantor of our civil rights. When states prohibited Black people from voting in the South, activists went to the court to make sure all people were treated equally in our system of government.” She continued, “This is monumental because it’s the first time we have seen the court take away a right. And the way they do it, the context in which they do it, saying that there is historically no right grounded in the Constitution and its text or in its precedent or in our history that guarantees women rights to equality, that bodes poorly for other rights that have been the subject of the culture wars in this country. The culture wars that led to this newly conservative 6-3 really a super … [Read more...] about MSNBC’s Vance on SCOTUS Dobbs Ruling: ‘It’s a Very Dark Day in America’

Thalassemia refers to a blood disease that is primarily inherited. The condition results in the production of abnormal haemoglobin. The disorder concludes in the extreme damage of red blood cells, which leads to a condition when your body doesn’t have sufficient regular healthy red blood cells. This condition in medical terms is called Anaemia. Reptiles That Survived Dinosaur-killing Asteroid are Forefathers of Modern-day Snakes
Snakes, the magnificent yet scary legless creatures, are spread across the globe with more than 3,000 species. But there are just a few ultra-resilient species that deserve all the credits for the existence of such a massive number during modern times. A new study at the University of Bath suggests that the enormous extra-terrestrial rock that hit the Earth wiping out most of flora and fauna, including dinosaurs, is the reason for the snakes’ success in survival for almost 66 million years and counting. As the massive asteroid hit the Earth, it induced a myriad other catastrophes such as monumental floods, continuous wildfires, and devastating tsunamis. Moreover, the Earth saw few dark decades as the ash clouds did not let any sunlight enter the planet's atmosphere. In such a hostile environment, a few species –such as frogs, birds, and fish –managed to survive and keep the continuum of life dynamic. In these species were snakes that hid underground and could cling to life without … [Read more...] about Reptiles That Survived Dinosaur-killing Asteroid are Forefathers of Modern-day Snakes

California won’t make it easy to obtain concealed carry licenses, despite Supreme Court ruling
The Supreme Court likely tore a giant hole in California’s concealed-carry gun law, but that doesn’t mean the Golden State must suddenly make it easy to obtain licenses to carry firearms in public. On Thursday, the court struck down a New York law requiring gun owners to show they have “proper cause” to get a permit to carry a handgun outside of their home. The ruling likely jeopardizes similarly restrictive laws in California, a half-dozen other states and the District of Columbia, which all require applicants to prove they have a special reason to need self-protection. Gun laws: Supreme Court strikes down New York gun law — rendering California’s law dead too That ruling elicited cheers from gun-rights activists and alarm among Democratic officials and gun-violence advocates, who pointed to a flurry of mass shootings across the country in recent months. But state Attorney General Rob Bonta warned residents that the bulk of California’s concealed-carry law remains in … [Read more...] about California won’t make it easy to obtain concealed carry licenses, despite Supreme Court ruling
Gavin Newsom rages at Supreme Court over New York Second Amendment decision
California Gov. Gavin Newsom had some choice words for the United States Supreme Court after the body struck down a New York law that tightly regulated the act of carrying guns outside the home, setting precedent for the repeal of similar laws in California and other progressive states. "A dark day in America," he tweeted . "This is a dangerous decision from a court hell bent on pushing a radical ideological agenda and infringing on the rights of states to protect our citizens from being gunned down in our streets, schools, and churches. Shameful." The justices ruled 6-3 that the New York law, which required concealed-carry applicants to demonstrate a compelling need to carry a firearm outside the home, infringed on a person's right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment. While no specific California laws were directly overturned in the court's ruling, many state and local laws are now vulnerable to legal challenges. For example, California requires applicants to … [Read more...] about Gavin Newsom rages at Supreme Court over New York Second Amendment decision
