This eerie cottage left abandoned for years has a copy of the Daily Mirror' s iconic newspaper proclaiming the first moon landing scattered across the floor. The property in Fife, Scotland, also sees historic letters from the Second World War left lying around. The exterior of the stone building is crumbling and gradually being consumed by nature with leaves, branches and moss attaching themselves to it. Once inside the property, it appears to be a hoarder's dream with objects filling each dishevelled room from floor to ceiling leaving very little room to step. A selection of books, vinyl records, and a globe are strewn across one of the rooms with an old television, radio, photographs, and books scattered across a table covered in glass shards in another, as a mass of debris can be seen lurking underneath it. The property have been left untouched for years and there were some fascinating items inside ( Image: MEDIA DRUM WORLD) Old Spice aftershaves, a … [Read more...] about Inside abandoned cottage with WW2 letters and iconic moon landing Daily Mirror newspaper

Met Office boss brands UK summer ‘scary’ and fires warning ahead of second 36C heatwave
The UK’s chief meteorologist says the country is entering into scary, uncharted waters as we are hit by a second massive heatwave this year. Met Office boss Paul Davies fears a 35C heatwave such as the one we are baking under this week, may now occur once every five years and annually by the end of the century. And the history-making 40C experienced last month, which caused homes to burn down, our runways to melt and railways to buckle, could hit the UK every three years in 77 years. “That’s a staggering number,” Mr Davies, a world-leading expert in meteorology, told The Mirror. Talking about our changing climate and the brutal 40C seen in Lincolnshire on July 19, he said: “I knew it was possible but to see it unfold in reality is quite scary. Woman who ‘can’t smile’ defies bullies as she finds self-confidence and becomes a model
A woman who is unable to smile due to a rare neurological disorder has defied her bullies by embarking on a "self-discovery and healing journey" that has led her to find self-confidence - as well as signing a modelling contract. Tayla Clement was diagnosed with Moebius Syndrome when she was eight months old, meaning she cannot move her eyes from side to side, raise her eyebrows, or even smile due to the underdevelopment of her facial nerves. And while she has been bullied her entire life for looking "different", Tayla told the Daily Star that she has since learned to accept her true beauty and is proving her critics wrong by finding success as an influencer, a Paralympian, and now a model. Tayla, from New Zealand, said: "I definitely haven’t always been confident in myself. I was bullied all throughout my childhood and schooling years because of my syndrome, so I was made to feel like I couldn't or shouldn't be confident in myself. She said her modelling contract is a … [Read more...] about Woman who ‘can’t smile’ defies bullies as she finds self-confidence and becomes a model
Why you should ask your employer about Micro-Upskilling
It's been a rough few years around the world. Wars, floods and fires, and a global pandemic have taken their toll on both the economy and the job market. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in February 2021 was 8.5 million less than in February 2020 in the US, and the Institute for Employment Studies estimates that there are 600,000 fewer people in work in the UK than there were before the Pandemic, a statistic that the Learning and Work Institute found could cost the country 120 billion pounds by 2030. This all sounds fairly ominous, however, experts believe there is a simple solution that could revolutionize the global workforce, and benefit both employee and employer – micro-upskilling. Put simply, this is the act of an employee, facilitated by the employer, committing to spending a short amount of time each week learning new skills, and honing old ones. A poll by the Data and Marketing Association found that 70% of professionals currently micro-upskill less … [Read more...] about Why you should ask your employer about Micro-Upskilling
Meghan Markle’s pal shares unseen photo from her time in royal family to mark special day
A long-time photographer friend of Meghan Markle has shared a beautiful behind-the-scenes snap from her time as a working royal. Misan Harriman, 43, is known for his powerful photography and has been chosen by both Meghan and Prince Harry to take pictures of them in the past. And to mark Meghan's 41st birthday last week, he took to social media to post a candid image he took of her back in 2019. It shows Meghan at the One Young World summit at the Royal Albert Hall in London as she was preparing to take the stage at its opening ceremony. Alongside the picture, the celebrated photographer wrote the message: "Wishing you the happiest of birthdays Meghan" and followed it up with a heart emoji. Misan previously shared a black and white version of the snap and explained he called the image "The Arrival". It's unknown how Misan and Meghan struck up their friendship but they are thought to have been friendly from the start of her relationship with Harry. Prince Harry has ‘overplayed’ his hand in security row, says his ex protection officer
Prince Harry has "overplayed" his hand in his security row and taking legal action is "unwise", his former police protection officer has warned. The Duke of Sussex began a legal challenge against the Home Office after his taxpayer-funded security was stripped in 2020 when he stepped down as a working royal and moved to California. He previously said it was unsafe for him to visit the UK and bring his wife Meghan Markle and children Archie and Lilibet without protection provided by the police. Last week it emerged that a second lawsuit has now been filed by Harry at the High Court with the Home Office and also the Metropolitan Police as defendants. ‘My face tattoo makes people avoid me – but I think I look cool and so does my mum’
A man who got barbed wire tattooed on his forehead has claimed that people sometimes cross the street to avoid him - but he loves that he makes an "impression". Bowen Goh has hundreds of tattoos over his body and has said that while he stopped counting at 400 inkings, he would estimate he now has between 500 and 600 different tattoos, the Daily Star reports . One of his most noticeable inkings is the line of barbed wire that runs across his forehead just below his hairline, and while the tattoo isn't the most popular with the public, Bowen insists it actually has a poignant meaning behind it - which will help him if and when he starts to face hair loss . A woman who was turned away by doctors for being "just fat" is raising awareness of a painful condition after a kind stranger helped her uncover the truth. Theresa Fredenburg-Hinds, 36, has suffered from large legs since the age of eight, and they only became more painful and swollen when she hit puberty. Despite Theresa's worrying concerns, her GP dismissed her painful pins as obesity and sent her away to buy compression stockings, the Daily Star reports. Incredibly, it was the shop assistant who recognised her symptoms and diagnosed her with the right condition - which immediately brought her to tears.
