Boris Johnson's Partygate hangover has deepened after bombshell pictures showed him raising a glass of fizz at a lockdown leaving do. The Prime Minister was not fined by Scotland Yard over the farewell bash for his spin chief Lee Cain on November 13 2020 - but insiders have claimed others were. The photos, obtained by ITV News , raise questions for the Metropolitan Police and threaten to derail Mr Johnson's attempts to move past the row over lockdown parties which brought his premiership to the brink of collapse. Why Amber Heard was compared to Zendaya, Gal Gadot during trial
Amber Heard was compared to a number of other movie stars including Zendaya and Gal Gadot during Monday's court proceedings as an entertainment industry consultant testified about her career trajectory. The multimillion-dollar defamation trial between Heard and her ex-husband Johnny Depp resumed on Monday in what is the final week in the Fairfax, Virginia, court room. Ana De Armas, Jason Momoa and Chris Pine were also mentioned in the list of celebrity names by an expert witness and entertainment industry consultant Kathryn Arnold. Arnold testified that Heard's career success would be on par with those big names if it weren't for Depp's alleged "smear campaign" against her. "When you look at the time frame of when the Waldman statements came out, and you look at what was going on with Ms. Heard's career prior to the statement and what happened after the statement, it's very clear to make that correlation," Arnold said. She was citing Depp's attorney, Adam Waldman, who … [Read more...] about Why Amber Heard was compared to Zendaya, Gal Gadot during trial

Moscow launches a new phase of the conflict
This live blog is now closed. For the latest updates please check here . Russia has opened a long-anticipated new phase of the war in Ukraine , launching its eastern offensive in a bid to seize the country's industrial heartland. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed the move Tuesday , saying the Kremlin's goal was to achieve the “full liberation of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics,” which together make up the Donbas region. The full-scale assault on Ukraine's east came as the last fighters in Mariupol, the besieged port city that is crucial to Moscow's goals, continued to hold out despite a new Russian deadline to surrender. It also followed Russian strikes across the country, hitting supply lines and military infrastructure and killing at least seven people in the western city of Lviv . The United States is expected to announce another package of military aid, which is expected to be similar in size to the $800 million one the administration … [Read more...] about Moscow launches a new phase of the conflict
Coleen Nolan: I do need to lose a LOT of weight … but there’ll always be a fat girl trying to get out
Breaking down in tears live on TV, Coleen Nolan wished the ground would swallow her up. TV medic Dr Christian Jessen had broken the news to the viewers of ITV’s Loose Women that she is three stone overweight – and Coleen braced herself for even more. That she had diabetes, heart disease, or something even worse. “I was mortified to hear I was that overweight,” she says. “I knew it was coming, but I literally thought it would be a stone – not three. I nearly fell off my chair. “I was dreading him saying something even more horrific, that my lifestyle – being overweight and smoking 35 fags a day – meant I’d made myself sick.” Luckily the worse news never came. “Part of the tears were down to relief,” Coleen explains. “But I was massively embarrassed too. Common sense matters
Yeom Jae-ho The author is a professor emeritus and former president of Korea University. In the presidential race, which was marred by negative campaigning, Yoon Suk-yeol from the opposition People Power Party (PPP) defeated Lee Jae-myung from the ruling Democratic Party (DP) by a 0.73 percent margin. Yoon got 247,077 more votes than Lee in the election. The gap was smaller than the 307,542 votes that were declared invalid. After the frustrating loss, the DP established an emergency committee led by floor leader Yoon Ho-joong and Park Ji-hyun, a 26-year old activist on a crusade to eradicate digital sex crimes, to help reenergize the party. Before and after the election, President Moon Jae-in enjoyed approval ratings hovering above 40 percent for 11 consecutive weeks, and DP candidate Lee dominated other contestants in personal appeal. In terms of strength, the PPP was the underdog as inferred by the shabby number of seats it has in the National Assembly (35.9 percent vs. 58.3 … [Read more...] about Common sense matters
Ask Amy: Disappointing daughter expects support
Dear Amy: My daughter just announced her engagement to her boyfriend, “Clay.” They are both heavy pot users. Clay is also a convicted felon (for selling narcotics), a college dropout, and has psychiatric and physical health problems. He picks up occasional work but cannot and does not support her. He can barely support himself. He has terrible hygiene. Worse yet, he seems to be incredibly reckless. He has totaled three cars in three years. My husband and our other children insist that I must support my daughter’s life choices, but I cannot bring myself to. I see only pain and poverty in her future. We raised our beautiful daughter in an upper middle-class family, sent her to private college and on European trips. We supported her 100 percent over the past year while she successfully undertook and excelled in a prerequisite program to start a three-year (online, part-time) master’s degree toward a new career. She recently got a minimally-paying job and wants us to … [Read more...] about Ask Amy: Disappointing daughter expects support
