Senior advocate and distinguished jurist Dr. Rajeev Dhavan recently in his column uploaded on online portal expressed a strongly worded anguish against Justice J.S.Khehar and termed him arguably one of the worst Chief Justices of India. The current president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and senior advocate Mr. R.S.Suri in his personal capacity did not subscribe to Dr. Dhavan’s opinion and responded in another online portal. In an exchange of views on the sitting CJI with just few days left for his superannuation, I wish to trace a developing trend of harsh criticism as against excessive submission, both by senior members at the bar. When Justice Khehar was appointed as the CJI, I wrote an article on how he was expected to bring in a lot of changes. Justice Khehar in his short tenure proved to be zealous and active. Whether he ended up as selectively overzealous or hyper active is for the bar to judge.I ask myself few questions at this juncture – Who is … [Read more...] about Dr. Dhavan’s Column On CJI Khehar And The Response by Sr.Advocate R.S.Suri – Two Extremes

Spokesman: Pence Did Not Pen Column Slamming Trump
A spokesman for Mike Pence on Thursday denied the vice president might be the official who wrote a scathing, unsigned column in The New York Times about President Donald Trump. On the internet, the focus on Pence as the possible author apparently stemmed from the use of the obscure word '"odestar" in the column. Pence is said to have used that term in several speeches in the past. But Pence spokesman Jarrod Agen insisted the vice president did not write the piece, which said Trump's own staff sees him as a danger to the nation who needs to be protected from his own erratic impulses. "The Vice President puts his name on his Op-Eds. The @nytimes should be ashamed and so should the person who wrote the false, illogical, and gutless op-ed," Agen wrote on Twitter. "Our office is above such amateur acts." Trump reacted furiously to the publication of the editorial. He asked if it could be considered treasonous, assailed the Times for the "gutless" story and questioned whether the senior … [Read more...] about Spokesman: Pence Did Not Pen Column Slamming Trump
Brennan Concerned About ‘Wounded’ Trump’s Response to NYT Column
Former CIA Director John Brennan said Thursday he has no idea who the senior administration official behind an anonymous New York Times column detailing concerns about President Donald Trump's White House, but he is concerned about how the "wounded" president will react to it. "People have criticized me for speaking out as a former director, but I see the signs of a looming disaster," Brennan, now an NBC analyst, told "Today." "I don't know how Donald Trump is going to react to this. A wounded lion is a very dangerous animal, and I think Donald Trump is wounded." Brennan added that the piece, which detailed efforts by staffers to curb the president's impulsive actions was "wholly consistent" with other reports that have come out over the past year, including within a new book by journalist Bob Woodward. He also called the article an active of "insubordination," but that it's born out of loyalty to the United States. "This is not sustainable to have an executive branch where … [Read more...] about Brennan Concerned About ‘Wounded’ Trump’s Response to NYT Column
Bookies Taking Bets on Who Wrote Anonymous NY Times Column
Bookmakers are taking bets on which unnamed administration official wrote the controversial column in The New York Times blasting President Donald Trump, the New York Post is reporting. MyBookie, a Costa Rica-based operation, listed the odds for Vice President Mike Pence at 2-to-3. In the column, the unidentified author noted the late Sen. John McCain was a “lodestar for restoring honor to public life and out national dialogue,” the HuffPost said. “What tipped us off was ‘lodestar,’" MyBookie head oddsmaker is quoted in the Post. “When you search members of the administration (who have used that word) only one name comes up – and that name is Mike Pence. He’s used in multiple speeches this year.” Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was listed at 2-to-1. She was followed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was listed at 4-to-1. MyBookie listed 18 possible suspects, but it gave the odds as 1-to-3 that it was someone else. Meanwhile, … [Read more...] about Bookies Taking Bets on Who Wrote Anonymous NY Times Column
Michael Caputo Claims NY Times Mystery Column Writer a Woman
The mystery writer behind an anonymous "resistance" column in The New York Times was a "snake" — a female one — former Donald Trump campaign aide Michael Caputo claimed Thursday morning. “I know it’s a woman,” he told Buffalo radio station WBEN 930AM, while refusing to say her name, Townhall reported. "My attorney is keeping me from saying her name, but yes, I believe it’s a woman. I believe I know who it is," he added. The mystery writer also tried to pin the blame on colleagues through leaving hints in the piece to lead analysts to different Trump administration officials, said Caputo. Already, several key officials, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, and Vice President Mike Pence all denied speculation that they'd penned the article. Caputo claimed that the writer published the piece to affect the midterm elections in hopes of bringing in a Congress that would impeach the president, but he … [Read more...] about Michael Caputo Claims NY Times Mystery Column Writer a Woman
