Italy international Lorenzo Insigne has signed a four-year deal to join Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC from Napoli on July 1, the Canadian club announced Saturday. The 30-year-old forward and Napoli captain will move in the middle of the MLS season after his contract expires with the Serie A side in June. Insigne helped Italy win last year’s European Championship title, the Azzurri winning 3-2 in a penalty shootout over England. “This is a historic and exciting day for our club,” Toronto FC president Bill Manning said. “Lorenzo is a world-class attacking player in the prime of his career. A growing interest in Dhrupad along with the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) propagating the art, has led to a special collaboration where renowned vocalists Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha held training sessions in the oldest surviving classical form of Indian music. Speaking about the training sessions, the Gundecha brothers said, “The newly growing interest in Dhrupad and our personal vision to propagate the knowledge and its culture are in line with the goals of the NCPA. We feel that the training workshops will make Dhrupad learning, as well as the knowledge of the existence and quality of this music, available to a larger audience.” The two sessions on Saturday were attended by a total 50 music enthusiasts and students. On Saturday, the Chile women's national soccer team played host to South American rivals Venezuela at the Estadio La Granja, Curicó.
