Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene was “brutally honest” in his assessment after their early exit from the IPL, saying they failed to take control of crucial moments and did not play good cricket. Mumbai are likely to end up last on the points table even if they manage to win their last game against Delhi Capitals on May 21. “But having the quality that we have in the squad, yes, you have to be brutally honest, we haven’t played good cricket,” Jayawardene said on the eve of the game. “Like I have said earlier, the intensity, we haven’t taken control of crucial moments in certain matches, we had that done (then) we had the confidence to get those four-five wins in a row, where we would be fighting for the play-offs, but it has been that kind of a season and (I am) definitely disappointed." Ehab Galal has been named as the new coach of Egypt, replacing Carlos Queiroz who left the role this week, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The Calcutta High Court on Friday directed that Ankita Adhikary, daughter of West Bengal Minister of State for Education Paresh Chandra Adhikary, be removed from the post of teacher in a State-run school and also instructed her to return the salary received from the school. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay also directed that Ms. Adhikary will not be treated as a teacher and she or any person on her behalf will not be allowed inside the school premises. On May 17, in an order, Justice Gangopadhyay had pointed at irregularities in the appointment of Ms. Adhikary and directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR against the minister and his daughter. The FIR was registered on May 19. Justice Gangopadhyay, in his order on Friday, said that the post to which Ms. Adhikary was appointed shall be earmarked for the petitioner Babita Sarkar. The proposed manufacturing plants of Maurti Suzuki and Suzuki Motorcycle at Industrial Model Township in Sonipat’s Kharkhoda will entail an estimated investment of ₹20,000 crore and generate about 13,000 direct jobs. An agreement and land allotment letter were signed by the Haryana government with the two companies on Thursday to mark Maruti Suzuki’s four-decade old association with the State. Spread across 800 acres, the proposed Maruti Suzuki plant will be the company’s largest single manufacturing site in the country involving total investment of about ₹18,000 crore. Kenichi Ayukawa, executive vice-chairman, Maruti Suzuki, said the company would start construction work on the car manufacturing plant immediately. “With the support of the State government, the first plant, with an annual capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles, is expected to be commissioned within 2025.
