Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene was “brutally honest” in his assessment after their early exit from the IPL, saying they failed to take control of crucial moments and did not play good cricket. Mumbai are likely to end up last on the points table even if they manage to win their last game against Delhi Capitals on May 21. “But having the quality that we have in the squad, yes, you have to be brutally honest, we haven’t played good cricket,” Jayawardene said on the eve of the game. “Like I have said earlier, the intensity, we haven’t taken control of crucial moments in certain matches, we had that done (then) we had the confidence to get those four-five wins in a row, where we would be fighting for the play-offs, but it has been that kind of a season and (I am) definitely disappointed." Jayawardene said the main concern was not handling pressure situations in early stages of the tournament. “As any season where we start slow, which is a concern for us. IPL 2022, MI vs DC | Rishabh Pant is right choice for captaincy, no doubt in my mind: Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting
Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting on May 21 backed Rishabh Pant after his strategic blunder cost the team a spot in the play-offs, saying he is still young and learning the ropes of captaincy and remains the right choice for the job. With Mumbai Indians at 95 for 3 in 14.3 overs while chasing a target of 160, Pant made a strategic blunder as he refused to go for DRS after Tim David nicked the first ball of his innings and the onfield umpire didn’t give him out. It came back to haunt DC as David slammed 34 runs off just 11 balls with the help of two boundaries and four sixes to take the game out of DC’s grasp. “Absolutely, no doubt in my mind that Rishabh even in the last season he was the right choice for captain. Rishabh did a terrific job with the team after he took over from Shreyas [Iyer] after he injured his shoulders,” Ponting said during the press conference after DC lost by five wickets against MI. “...he is just a young man and still learning captaincy. Amber Heard hired ex-porn star-turned-detective to dig up dirt on Johnny Depp
Amber Heard hired a private detective who used to be an adult film star to dig up dirt on her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, in the summer of 2019. Paul Barresi was a mustachioed stud who appeared in Co-ed Fever, Bad Girls II and other X-rated films. Reinvented as a private detective, he’s worked for Tom Cruise, Eddie Murphy and Sylvester Stallone. Now he’s an issue in Depp’s US$50mil defamation suit against his ex-wife, who claims the actor repeatedly assaulted her. In a deposition taken in April 2021, Depp’s lawyer Ben Chew asked Heard’s former attorney Eric George whether he was aware of Barresi’s history in adult film. When George’s lawyers instructed George not to answer, Chew quickly said: “We’re going to fight this another day.” Chew then asked George what tasks he gave to Barresi with respect to investigating Depp. This inquiry was also met with objection from George’s counsel and instructions for him not to answer. J.P. Morgan downgrades India’s IT sector as pandemic boom fades
Soaring inflation, supply-chain issues and the hit from the Ukraine war will bring an end to the growth boom India's IT services industry enjoyed during the pandemic, J.P.Morgan analysts said on Thursday as they downgraded the sector to "underweight". The $194-billion sector, whose software services helped businesses adopt to pandemic-era practices of online shopping and remote working, is facing a demand slowdown this year as employees return to offices and the Russia-Ukraine war weighs on spending from clients in Europe. "We see peak revenue growth behind us and EBIT margins trending down from inflation, mean reversion," JPM said. "While the bottom-up outlook remains positive from most Services, Software and SaaS names YTD, and the tech spending cycle remains buoyant structurally, we feel there are more downside risks to current earnings assumptions." The brokerage expects the slowdown to worsen in 2023 partly due to a potential decline in orders from the key market of United … [Read more...] about J.P.
