World Donald Trump Senior members of the Trump campaign directed Roger Stone, a longtime aide of President Donald Trump, to find out when Wikileaks would release harmful information on Hillary Clinton, according to an indictment released by the Justice Department on Friday. The FBI arrested Stone early Friday morning for allegedly lying to Congress and attempting to obstruct the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. The special counsel’s office is investigating the same matter, and the indictment released for Stone outlines that top members of the Trump campaign were in fact communicating with Wikileaks, a transparency organization that is widely viewed as working on behalf of Russia. In the summer of 2016, around the time of the Democratic National Convention, Wikileaks published tens of thousands of emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee by … [Read more...] about Trump Campaign Directed Roger Stone to Find Out When Wikileaks Would Release Damaging Clinton Emails, Mueller Indictment Suggests

Mueller Has Evidence Suggesting Stone Associate Knew Clinton Emails Would Be Leaked: Source
Special counsel Robert Mueller's office has obtained communications suggesting that a right-wing conspiracy theorist might have had advance knowledge that the emails of Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman had been stolen and handed to WikiLeaks, a source familiar with the investigation told NBC News. Mueller's team has spent months investigating whether the conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi knew WikiLeaks had obtained emails hacked by Russian intelligence officers before the public did and whether he passed information about the stolen emails to Trump associate Roger Stone, multiple sources said. Mueller's investigators have reviewed messages to members of the Trump team in which Stone and Corsi seem to take credit for the release of Democratic emails, said a person with direct knowledge of the emails. The source and other people familiar with the matter say they have seen no evidence suggesting either man played any role in the hacking or release of the emails. Peter W. Smith, an Illinois businessman with a long history of involvement in GOP politics, sought and collected the funds from at least four wealthy donors as part of the plan to obtain Clinton’s stolen emails from hackers just weeks before election day in 2016, according to people familiar with the matter and documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. Smith's effort to find what he believed were some 33,000 deleted emails Clinton said were personal was first reported by the Journal in a 2017 story, but the extent of his planning went far beyond … [Read more...] about GOP operative secretly raised at least $100K in search for Clinton emails

POLITICS 05/24/2018 10:27 pm ET Stone's contact with Julian Assange reportedly told him he couldn't ask WikiLeaks favors "every other day." By Mary Papenfuss Donald Trump’s former campaign adviser Roger Stone pressured an acquaintance to ask WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for “damaging” emails on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. Stone has long denied any involvement with the trove of hacked Democratic National Committee emails that WikiLeaks published during the 2016 campaign. He also testified before the House Intelligence Committee last year that he only “wanted confirmation” that Assange had information about Trump’s opponent. But according to a series of emails The Wall Street Journal reviewed for its Thursday article, Stone did more than ask for confirmation. In September 2016, he apparently badgered radio personality Randy Credico to … [Read more...] about Roger Stone Pressed For Damaging Emails About Hillary Clinton From WikiLeaks: Report
