City-based electric vehicle manufacturer AVERA has launched two new models 'Vincero' and 'Retrosa Litee' on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day here on Monday. Vincero could hit up to 120 kmph and had a range of 236 km, the makers claimed. The models were launched at the company's manufacturing unit in Chandana Economic Industrial Development Area (CEIDA), Nunna. “Vincero has been embedded with the world’s best design elements not limiting to facial technology as one of the key elements,” company founder and CEO Venkata Ramana said. “AVERA is the only manufacturer with a second electric scooter integrated with a smart lithium ferrophosphate (LFP) battery having advanced safety features to avoid fire accidents. Retrosa Litee is a more economical model for the Indian market in the premium electric segment,” Mr. Ramana said. The series is expected to debut on the streaming service in 2023, with Peacock currently having all three of the “John Wick” films released to date. The Greater Chennai Corporation has removed 1,705 illegal banners in various parts of the city as part of the cleanliness drive for implementing People’s Movement for Clean Cities. Damaged vehicles dumped along the road were also removed as part of the drive. The State government had launched the People’s Movement for Clean Cities with support from NGOs, traders and residents. On Saturday, Corporation officials removed 41 illegal banners in Tiruvottiyur, 21 in Manali, 10 in Madhavaram, 13 in Tondiarpet, 26 in Royapuram, 287 in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, 156 in Ambattur, 96 in Anna Nagar, 51 in Teynampet, 33 in Kodambakkam, 172 in Valasaravakkam, 241 in Alandur, 103 in Adyar, 240 in Perungudi and 215 in Sholinganallur. Fifty six damaged vehicles were removed from the roads. Seven tonnes of scrap was removed from public spaces. A total of 171 tonnes of waste was removed on Saturday. NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart Inc. said Monday it has signed a deal with Paramount Global to offer the entertainment company's streaming service as a perk to subscribers of the discounter's shipping subscription service. The move is part of efforts by the nation's largest retailer to better compete with Amazon's Prime membership program, which offers an array of perks. Starting in September, subscribers to Walmart+ will be have access to the Paramount+ Essential Plan, which includes ads and offers original dramas such as “1883” and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” along with the preschool franchise “PAW Patrol,” recent blockbuster films such as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” and live sports. The cost of Walmart+ will remain $98 a year, or $12.95 a month, the retailer said. It includes free shipping on items and discounts on gasoline. Kelly Brough, the former president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and former chief of staff to then-Denver-mayor, now U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper, filed her candidate paperwork on Monday. Brough did not immediately return a call seeking comment on her decision to run. Shivamogga and Mangaluru, the two cities in Karnataka that have turned into communally sensitive areas, have once again hit the headlines. This time, on Independence Day, over a poster of Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar. Right-wing groups put up a poster of Veer Savarkar at the Ameer Ahmed Circle in Shivamogga on Monday. Another group objected as they wanted to install Tipu Sultan’s flex there. Pro-Hindu groups launched a protest when efforts were made to remove the poster. Police had to resort to mild lathicharge to bring the situation under control and disperse the crowd. Authorities have deployed additional forces in the area and have clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code in the entire city.
