The U.K. prime ministerial race frontrunner, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, continues to hold on to a commanding 22-point lead over former Chancellor Rishi Sunak in the Conservative Party leadership contest, according to a new survey of Tory members on August 14, 2022. In an Opinium poll for ‘The Observer’ newspaper of 570 Conservative members with a vote in the election, Ms. Truss is on 61% and the British Indian former minister is on 39%. Rishi Sunak, the British Indian former Chancellor in the race to be elected the British Prime Minister, on Tuesday pledged a major overhaul of the country’s civil service to create a sharper, leaner bureaucracy if he takes charge at 10 Downing Street on September 5. Sunak, who is up against Foreign Secretary Liz Truss in the Conservative Party leadership election to succeed Boris Johnson, wants civil servants to spend at least a year of their career outside government roles in industry to widen their experience. Under a Sunak-led government, they will no longer receive pay rewards based on the longevity of their service but performance instead. Formula One’s governing body approved engine regulations for 2026 on Tuesday, an eagerly-awaited move that could lead to the arrival of premium Volkswagen Group brands Porsche and Audi. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said its World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) also updated the 2022 and 2023 technical rules to address safety concerns. The addition to the "Brotherhood of Muscle" lands in the hot compact crossover segment using another classic name: Dodge Hornet. The 2023 Dodge Hornet uses the same platform as the also-Stellantis-owned Alfa Romeo Tonale, but with a ton of Dodge DNA injected from looks to powertrain. It won't sport the company's traditional crosshair grille like the decade-old concept of the same name. The Hornet name started with the Hudson Hornet in the 1940s. When Hudson was swallowed by American Motor Corporation it became the compact AMC Hornet. AMC was then folded into by Chrysler, giving the company, now owned by Stellantis, access to the nameplate. The Scottish government has confirmed that asylum seekers and refugees will be handed the vote under plans to expand the franchise.
