Ryanair is on a collision course with the airline's regulator over its decision to reject compensation claims amid a pilots' strike. The low-cost airline is claiming it does not need to compensate customers as it cancels hundreds of flights due to a strike by pilots and cabin crew across Europe.More than 600 flights were cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday as cabin crews in Belgium, Spain and Portugal went on strike over pay and conditions.The carrier is also facing more strikes by its Irish pilots over similar concerns. Departures from the Bedfordshire airport were an average of 20 minutes late in 2017, according to Press Association analysis of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) data. AN anti-plastic packaging revolution could see plane passengers eating from cellophane-free meal trays with bamboo cutlery, ministers have revealed. Baroness Sugg outlined the Government’s latest aviation strategy including measures to make it greener by cutting the use of single-use plastics. Plans could see plastic food wrappers ditched, and more water fountains installed in airports to cut the need for plastic water bottles in addition to more recycling points. Plastic cutlery could also be a thing of the past as well as the wrappers for headphones and pillows on longer haul flights. Making it easier to claim compensation after delays, easing journeys for wheelchair users and tackling unruly passengers were also revealed.
