Photo: Henning Bagger / Scanpix 2017 North Jutland’s Aalborg, the fourth-largest city in Denmark, is the eighth-most interesting travel destination this year, according to the New York Times. Aalborg is the latest Danish city to achieve recognition from a major international publication for its qualities as a tourism destination. The New York Times’ recently published ’52 Places to Go in 2019’ includes the North Jutland city, population 136,000, at number 8, joining an eclectic mix of cities, regions, towns and territories on the list. U.S. territory Puerto Rico is number 1 on the list, while Aalborg is sandwiched between two island groups – Japan’s Setouchi Islands and the Azores – placed at numbers 7 and 9 respectively. Viet Nam News NEW YORK — David Bowie has taken over a subway station in his adopted home of New York, with images of the rock legend plastered throughout and commemorative fare cards issued in his honour. Concert photos figure on the walls and his giant black-and-white likeness appears at the track entrance of the Broadway-Lafayette station, a short walk from where the London-born rocker lived his final years. The art installation is sponsored by streaming company Spotify and will be in place until May 13 as a tie-in to the exhibition David Bowie is at the Brooklyn Museum. The exhibition, which opened at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, has traveled across a dozen cities with New York scheduled to be its final stop. Bowie’s death in 2016 from an undisclosed battle with cancer stunned the music world. Immigration enforcement agents tracked and arrested 225 illegal migrants in New York’s “sanctuary city” where Democratic politicians are protecting illegals in the huge cheap-labor workforce which supports the city’s elite finance sector. A statement from U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement stated the six-day operation picked up 60 migrants who had been arrested and then released by the city’s police forces, despite federal requests to detain them for repatriation:More than 60 individuals arrested during this operation were previously released from local law enforcement on an active detainer. LONDON is experiencing a concerning rise in violent crime, with 63 murders in the capital since the start of the year. It meant, for the first time, that London's crime rate momentarily overtook that of New York in recent weeks. What is London's murder rate and when did it overtake New York? There have been 64 alleged murders in London since January 2018, compared with 50 in New York. There were 116 murders in the capital for all of 2017. While New York's murder rate decreased from the end of January, London's rose. Fifteen people were murdered in London in February, compared to 11 in the Big Apple. The number of London murders for March also beat New York's with 23 and 21 respectively - 13 of those in the UK capital coming in just 19 days. When the statistics are weighted for population, the rate of murders per 100,000 people was higher in London than in New York in February and March.
