Church Minister Says R. Kelly Ruined Her Cruise When DJ Wouldn’t Stop Playing His Music

February 13, 2019 newsweek Leave a Comment

World R. Kelly’s hit song “When a Woman’s Fed Up” summed up the feeling of a church minister who took exception to the R&B star’s music being played on her holiday cruise. Reverend Teri Peterson and other women clergy, known as the RevGalBlogPals, boarded the Carnival Magic liner in Miami for an eight-day cruise which no doubt would have included prayer. But their quest to get spiritual on the seas was undermined in the ship’s nightclub when the DJ started playing music by Kelly, who has faced many allegations of sexual abuse against women and underage girls dating back decades. The singer denies the accusations and currently faces no charges. R. Kelly performs during The Buffet Tour at Allstate Arena on May 7, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois. A church minister complained that music by the controversial star was played on a cruise. Daniel Boczarski/Getty Images Peterson and her companions, did not feel that his music was … [Read more...] about Church Minister Says R. News / UK and world by Press Association September 14, 2018, 3:17 am FacebookTwitterLinkedInWhatsAppEmail Sign up to our Daily newsletter The Archbishop of Canterbury has come under fire after it emerged the Church of England uses zero-hour contracts and invests in Amazon – despite his attacks on both during a speech earlier this week. Speaking at the TUC Congress in Manchester, Justin Welby criticised firms like Amazon for paying “almost nothing” in taxes, and described the so-called gig economy and zero-hours contracts as “the reincarnation of an ancient evil”. It has now been revealed that at least two Church of England cathedrals are advertising zero-hours contract jobs, while the Church has confirmed retailer Amazon is one of its 20 biggest investments worldwide. POLITICS 07/05/2018 04:00 am ET Church's minister of music is inspired to do a different take on a patriotic song. By Carla Baranauckas An altered version of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” that was sung last Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Vermont, is drawing praise and criticism on social media. The Greenwood song, originally released in 1984, gained renewed popularity during the Gulf War in 1991 and after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It is sung in some churches, especially around the Fourth of July.  But on Sunday morning in Burlington, First United Methodist’s minister of music and media, Adam Hall, said he was “inspired by a power greater than myself, so I scrapped the anthem I had planned and created this new version.” The result is “God Forgive The USA.” “It takes the original song’s bravado and bluster and turns it into humility and reflection,” he … [Read more...] about Church Minister Turns ‘God Bless The USA’ Into ‘God Forgive The USA’
