The Great Real Estate Slowdown: 10 Markets Where Homes Linger the Longest—and Buyers Gain an Edge

June 30, 2022 by www.sfgate.com

In the fraught, pressure-packed, scarily unpredictable summer 2022 housing market, home sellers and buyers are compulsively tracking key real estate metrics like baseball obsessives tracking box scores—only with way more on the line than the galling perfection of the New York Yankees . Everyone is desperate to get a grip on where things are going in U.S. real estate. Are prices continuing to rise? Is inventory going to keep falling? And where on Earth are mortgage rates going to top out? But one stat seems to sum up the current market, with all of its twists and turns, better than any other: How long is it taking for homes to sell? And in another sign of a cooldown in the housing market, U.S. homes are remaining on the market just a little longer. According to Realtor.com® data from May, the median number of days on the market for an American home stands at 31. While still a blistering pace, it represents a relief from the turbocharged frenzy we saw late last year … [Read more...] about The Great Real Estate Slowdown: 10 Markets Where Homes Linger the Longest—and Buyers Gain an Edge

June 30, 2022 by www.thestar.com.my

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been told off by the prosecution in his ongoing graft trial and asked not to treat the courtroom like "a coffee shop" after the Umno president appeared to be evasive during cross-examination. Deputy public prosecutor Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran also reminded Ahmad Zahid to behave himself after he repeatedly did not answer her specific questions and elaborated on his responses even when asked not to do so. Raja Rozela had asked Ahmad Zahid if he agreed that his former executive secretary Major Mazlina Mazlan was not allowed to touch the fixed deposit account at Messrs Lewis & Co, the law firm appointed to manage funds of his charity foundation Yayasan Akalbudi (YAB). ALSO READ: YAB funds came from contributions, not proceeds from illegal activities, says Zahid After several rounds of questioning and reminders to answer the question, Ahmad Zahid finally said "agreed". London Mayor Sadiq Khan Calls for UK to Rejoin EU’s Single Market

June 30, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

London’s leftist mayor and arch-Remainer Sadiq Khan has called for the United Kingdom to ignore the democratically expressed will of the people and rejoin the European Union’s Single Market. Rather than focus on the violent crime wave that has characterised his tenure in office, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has once again decided to relitigate the 2016 Brexit referendum and call for the UK to rejoin the EU’s Single Market. While he said that he could not speak for the entire Labour Party he said that the left-wing opposition should be campaigning to rejoin the trading bloc, LBC reported . “I believe we should. Spot on,” Mr Khan during the annual State of London debate, saying that he believes the decision to leave the European Union was the “biggest piece of self-inflicted harm ever done to a country.” The statements came amid the ongoing dispute over the Northern Ireland Protocol which essentially kept the British country inside the EU’s Single Market ostensibly to prevent the … [Read more...] about London Mayor Sadiq Khan Calls for UK to Rejoin EU’s Single Market

Sri Lanka makes progress towards IMF credit – IMF

June 30, 2022 by www.thestar.com.my

COLOMBO (Reuters) -The International Monetary Fund reported constructive talks with Sri Lankan authorities on Thursday, raising hopes it could soon grant preliminary approval for a credit facility to alleviate a crisis in which the country is struggling to pay for imports. "The discussions will continue virtually with a view to reaching a staff-level agreement on the EFF arrangement in the near term," IMF said, referring to the credit arrangement, called an extended fund facility. Staff-level agreement must precede final approval by the IMF's executive board, but so too must cooperation from Sri Lanka's creditors, which is not expected to come quickly. "Because public debt is assessed as unsustainable, Executive Board approval would require adequate financing assurances from Sri Lanka's creditors that debt sustainability will be restored," the IMF said. Analysts say debt restructuring would be a protracted process, even after IMF staff-level agreement. The financial crisis is … [Read more...] about Sri Lanka makes progress towards IMF credit – IMF
