CBS to Investigate Allegations of ‘Personal Misconduct’ Against CEO Leslie Moonves

The CBS board of directors said on Friday that it will investigate allegations of "personal misconduct" against the network's CEO, Leslie Moonves. The announcement came a few hours before The New Yorker published an article quoting six women who accused Moonves of harassment and intimidation, four of whom spoke on the record. Prior to the article's publication, The Hollywood Reporter posted an article saying The New Yorker's report was coming, leading to the CBS announcement. The New Yorker article was written by Ronan Farrow, a former NBC News correspondent, who has written a series of articles on high-profile individuals accused of sexual misconduct. Farrow reported in the article that six women who had professional dealings with Moonves said he sexually harassed them in incidents between the 1980s and the late 2000s. Farrow wrote that four women alleged forcible touching or kissing and two alleged sexual misconduct or harassment. CBS board meets to determine future of CEO Moonves

Steven Zeitchik, The Washington Post Published 12:47 pm PDT, Monday, July 30, 2018 CBS's board of directors is meeting Monday to determine the fate of Leslie Moonves, the powerful CEO who has been accused of sexual misconduct by six women. The board has several options in disciplining the executive, including suspension and firing. The board has said it would conduct an investigation into his behavior. Moonves, sensing increased internal and public pressure, could also step aside voluntarily. In an article published Friday in the New Yorker, a group of actors, writers and executives accused the top CBS executive of behavior that included forcible touching and physical intimidation, as well as threats of reprisal. The activity happened over a period of three decades beginning in the 1980s, the alleged victims said. CBS Names Big-Time Law Firms to Probe Moonves Allegations

CBS Corp. appointed two of the nation's most powerful law firms to conduct an independent investigation into an allegations of sexual abuse against President and Chief Executive Les Moonves, to be led by a pair of heavy-hitting ex-prosecutors, NBC News reported.  NBC reported Tuesday that prosecutors declined to pursue charges against Moonves, 68, one of the most prominent figures in the world of entertainment, after they concluded that the statute of limitations has expired on a Los Angeles woman's complaint to police that Moonves sexually abused her in the 1980s. CBS said Wednesday night that it had hired Covington & Burling and Debevoise & Plimpton, two of the most respected law firms in the world, to conduct the investigation.
