The TV chef’s restaurant group has hired advisers at Alix Partners as it eyes selling a stake to an investment partner. A spokesman for Jamie Oliver Group said: “Building on the success of Jamie’s recent books and TV shows, Jamie Oliver Restaurants Group is seeking an investment partner to work alongside Jamie and the team to evolve and expand the business in the UK and international markets.” Any deal is also likely to include a fresh injection of capital from Oliver himself, who put £13 million of his own money into the business when it ran into trouble last year. Speaking to the Press Association, the TV chef said there would “always be room for all sectors” in the eating-out industry, but casual dining had been hit hard by recent challenges. “I think mid-market particularly was just in a perfect storm of rents, rates, over-saturation, and we’d just come out of a recession and went into Brexit-ville,” he said. Mr Oliver’s chain Jamie’s Italian closed 12 sites last year, amid tough competition and rising costs. Restaurant and bar chain applies for licence to open in Norwich

Picture: David Hannant Archant A national restaurant and bar chain has applied to the council for a premises licence to open in Norwich. Cosy Club, which has 25 locations nationwide, has targeted the former NatWest building on London Street for its latest branch and has submitted a licensing application to Norwich City Council. It comes after the company submitted a planning application looking for permission to turn the building into a restaurant. The decision is still pending. The licensing application, which was received by the council on May 29, states: “The operation will be food-led Continental style casual dining restaurant/cafe/bar. Hop Jacks, based in suburban Seattle, is taking over the former Ruby Tuesday at Powers and Stetson Hills boulevard. The chain aims for a mid-August opening, said Jaime Fox, Hop Jacks' training director. The Springs would be Hop Jacks' first Colorado location, but not its last. The chain is finalizing leases in Castle Rock and Parker, Fox said. As it looks to new markets, Hop Jacks allows employees moving up the management ladder to choose candidates for expansion. A suburban Seattle manager who will run the Springs location suggested Colorado, Fox said; Hop Jacks researched the state and liked its population growth, surging economy and quality of life. The online and mobile food delivery service is now available in most of western Lake County. The Uber Eats website shows it now offers deliveries from hundreds of local restaurants to destinations in Munster, Highland, Griffith, Crown Point, Merrillville, Hammond, Dyer, St. John, Schererville, Whiting, East Chicago and Gary.
