The violence had erupted over alleged cow slaughter in the area. An FIR in connection with Subodh Singh’s killing was then lodged by Subhash Chandra, a sub-inspector posted at the Syan police station in Bulandshahr on December 4. Challenging the case filed against him, Satish had now contended that he was being “unnecessarily harassed on the basis of false allegations made against him while prima facie no cognizable offence is made out pursuant to the FIR lodged”. In doing so, the bench comprising Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Shabihul Hasnain observed, “A judicial officer is not an ordinary Government Servant and must be above suspicion. The conduct of the judicial officer must be beyond doubt as a Judge must be a person of high integrity, honesty and required to have moral vigour, fairness and should be impervious to corrupt or venial influences.” The court was hearing a petition filed by former Additional District Judge, Ghaziabad, Ms. Sadhna Chaudhary, challenging the order of her dismissal passed by the Appointments Department of the State Government in January 2016. The Bench comprising Chief Justice DB Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma has directed all District Judges in the State to constitute monitoring committees of 3-4 members, comprising the Secretary of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and judicial officers. It has further issued the following directives: The Monitoring Committees should contain lady judicial officers. The Committees shall undertake an inspection of all shelter homes falling within the jurisdiction of the concerned District Court and chronicle their observations with regard to the status and character of infrastructure available, the hygiene levels maintained at the shelter homes as also of the areas and aspects which require upgradation. NEW DELHI: Implementation of quota for dalits in Aligarh Muslim University ( AMU ) was a serious matter and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) would pass relevant orders next month if university authorities did not comply, commission chair Ram Shankar Katheria said. "AMU has sought one month after receiving a notice from the commission and the deadline is August 3. The full house of the commission will hold a hearing and pass orders for implementation of quota in AMU just like other central universities," Katheria, who is also BJP MP from Agra, said. Separately, at a press conference on Monday, HRD minister Prakash Javadekar confirmed that the ministry had written to AMU seeking "justification" behind denying quota to eligible students. "The ministry has taken cognisance of the matter and is waiting for AMU's response," he added.
