A former Illinois lawyer was arrested at his home in Sugar Land, Texas, on Thursday and charged with murdering his wife in suburban Chicago in 1973.Police in Sugar Land said Donnie Rudd, 73, waived extradition and should soon be back in Illinois to face prosecution in the Cook County case, reports CBS Chicago. The couple had only been married 28 days when Noreen Kumeta Rudd, 19, suffered a fractured spine and other injuries. Updated: After syndicated columnist Robert Novak reportedly hit a homeless pedestrian with his car Wednesday morning and didn’t immediately stop, an attorney on a bicycle chased him down.“The bicyclist was David Bono, a partner at Harkins Cunningham, who was on his usual bike commute to work at 1700 K St. N.W. when he witnessed the accident,” reports the Politico.Novak, 77, who was ticketed for a right-of-way violation, told authorities he didn’t realize he’d hit the 86-year-old pedestrian until Bono caught up with him, according to the article and the Washington Post. He apparently said that the pedestrian was crossing against the light. However, Bono says the pedestrian, who was crossing the street on a walk signal, was on Novak’s windshield at one point, the Politico writes. Traffic reportedly was heavy and … [Read more...] about Lawyer Chases Down Columnist Novak After Accident
He always seemed to cry whenever his perennially highly ranked University of Kansas teams came up short in the NCAA tournament. When he finally won his first national championship in 2005 after leaving Kansas for his alma mater, the University of North Carolina, the waterworks were out in full force—this time for joy and relief instead of frustration and failure. But he choked up again in late October after UNC won a meaningless preseason exhibition game against lower-division school Fayetteville State. Press releases have drawn new attention from Google. The search engine giant quietly altered its list of unnatural link examples to include “Links with optimized anchor text in articles or press releases distributed on other sites.” They are now “considered part of a link scheme and a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.”Google views excessively optimized hyperlinked keywords in press releases as an attempt to “game the system” in obtaining high webpage rankings. For example, you would not link “Chicago car accident lawyer” because that’s an overly optimized anchor text. However, you would link a long tail search phrase or a proper noun or firm name. This change shows how Google places a much higher value on external links to a website that come about “naturally” – that is, by way of unique content that prompts visitors to link to the content on their own website or blog. The disapproval of … [Read more...] about Have Press Release Links Lost Value In Latest Google Update?
