Alleged intruders in Sherman Oaks, California, fled the scene early Saturday morning after a homeowner awoke, retrieved a gun, and began shooting at them. ABC 7 reports that the incident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. KTLA notes that the homeowner awoke, thinking he was hearing noise from “a raccoon.” Instead, he saw that one of the alleged intruders was on his balcony. He grabbed his gun and shot at the suspect, who fled under fire. The homeowner then went into the hallway, where there was another alleged intruder. He shot at that suspect, who also fled as gunfire rang out. The man called 911 and LAPD officers arrived on scene but did not locate the suspects. Nolte: Kamala’s Husband’s Motorcade Caught Blocking Handicap Spots
Her Vice Fraudulency Kamala Harris’s husband, some guy named Doug Emhoff, went to Whole Foods in Brentwood on Wednesday, and his Secret Service motorcade blocked off two handicap spots. Is this what they mean by “white privilege”? Via the New York Post : Vice President Kamala Harris’ hubby went whole hog at a Whole Foods Market in California — where his motorcade blocked several handicapped parking spaces while he shopped. The piggish behavior took place outside the upscale supermarket in Brentwood as second gentleman Doug Emhoff strolled the aisles for about 20 minutes before emerging with two bags of groceries. The Secret Service told the Post , “Due to the need to maintain operational security, the U.S. Secret Service does not comment on the means or methods used to conduct our protective operations.” It’s certainly possible that blocking these spots was the only way the Secret Service felt it could adequately protect the second gentleman. Still, he was in … [Read more...] about Nolte: Kamala’s Husband’s Motorcade Caught Blocking Handicap Spots

U.S. calling Russia terrorism sponsor would be “point of no return”: Moscow
Alexander Darchiev, a Russian Foreign Ministry official, warned the United States on Friday that if it designates Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism it will have crossed a "point of no return." The comments from Darchiev, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's North American Department, came in an interview with the Russian-state news agency TASS, and as some lawmakers from both sides of the aisle pressure the Biden administration to give Moscow such a label. Senator Lindsey Graham , a South Carolina Republican, and Senator Dick Blumenthal, a Connecticut Democrat, told CNN last week that Biden or Congress should make such a designation amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine . "I hope the president will decide to adopt this stance voluntarily and he hasn't taken it off the table on the state-sponsored terrorism," Blumenthal said in an interview with the network earlier this month. Meanwhile, Graham said he'd "like to work" with the Biden administration to enact … [Read more...] about U.S. calling Russia terrorism sponsor would be “point of no return”: Moscow
Editor Daily Rundown: Mask Confusion
MASK CONFUSION… NY TIMES… DAVID LEONHARDT: A Confusing Message — The C.D.C. recommends indoor masking for the vaccinated, but only in some places. As you can see, most of the Northeast and upper Midwest, as well as much of the West, have only “moderate” or “low” transmission. If that stays true, vaccinated residents in those places can generally remain unmasked, the C.D.C. says. […] Breakthrough infections among the vaccinated appear to be only a modest reason that the number of new cases has been rising, as I explained in Monday’s newsletter. When vaccinated people do get the virus, they are less likely to pass it on to others — and much less likely to get very sick. […] The country was polarized long before Covid. But the C.D.C. has not maximized its chances of being heard, either. That’s the communication problem I mentioned above. Its announcement of the new guidelines was both vague and technical, making it hard for many nonexperts to understand. The agency … [Read more...] about Editor Daily Rundown: Mask Confusion
