The petitioner, Shanavi Ponnusamy has alleged that she was discriminated against owing to her sexual orientation and was hence, denied the post. Shanavi completed her engineering from Dr. Aditanar College of Engineerings, Tamil Nadu, in 2010, and underwent a sex reassignment surgery to become a woman in April, 2014. She thereafter worked with Sutherland Global Services (airline sector) for over a year to gain experience in the field. Shanavi then went on to work with Air India customer support (domestic and international) in Chennai, before applying for the post of female cabin crew for its Northern Region. ONE of the most anticipated ships of the year named Celebrity Edge has been revealed in Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The luxurious vessel will be able to carry over 2,900 guests at one time. It is expected to be launched next month by activist Malala Yousafzai. With its first trip set for December 4, the cruise offers a new level of luxury to its 2,918 passengers. Celebrity Edge is the first of four Edge Class vessels that Celebrity Cruises has ordered for delivery by 2022, reported The Telegraph. Passengers will be able to enjoy large picturesque pools as well as a huge outdoor rooftop garden during their deluxe voyage. I recently submitted this comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission with respect to its proposal to modernize the exemption applicable to intrastate offerings. The SEC somewhat misleadingly describes its proposal as “amendments to Rule 147 under the Securities Act of 1933″. While that may technically be accurate, the SEC is actually jettisoning the safe harbor established under existing Rule 147 in favor of an entirely new exemption adopted pursuant to Section 28 of the Securities Act of 1933. Because compliance with proposed Rule 147 would not meet the parameters of Section 3(a)(11) of the Securities Act, Rule 147 would no longer be a safe harbor, but a stand-alone exemption. Rule 147 is no Tangier 1684I generally support the SEC’s proposal. However, I am recommending that the SEC retain the current safe harbor rule under Section 3(a)(11). Supreme Court bench comprising of Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice S.K. Singh yesterday expressed anxiety over the growing number of cases where the women in failed relationships had filed rape charges against the men, accusing them of inducing them into a sexual relationship on the promise of marriage.It was contended by the complainant that the man had sexually abused her on the promise of marriage and also threatened to circulate an indecent video of her. The case was concerned with a relationship between a top IDFC banker and a former cabin crew member with an international airline. They both had a consensual live-in relationship for three years since 2009, while his divorce petition with his wife remained pending.The accused in the present case contended that the woman was highly educated and knew all along that he was a married man with two children.
