SAJID JAVID launched an astonishing attack on Theresa May over knife crime the Government plunged into crisis over the blood-letting on Britain’s streets. The Home Secretary sparked a bitter Cabinet dust-up by demanding more cash for cops- and for the PM to back his call to make it easier for police to use stop and search powers on suspect thugs. Stunned Cabinet Ministers watched as he then demanded the PM sign off his proposals by the end of the day in a huge challenge to her authority. One told The Sun: “He told her ‘I’ve sent you some proposals and I need you to sign them off today.’ “There was a slight testiness from the PM.” The incredible exchange came after Theresa May was held personally responsible for the record level of stabbings by Met Commissioner Cressida Dick. Just 24 hours after the PM dismissed talk of a link between police cuts and rising crime, Ms Dick said it was clear to “everybody” that “there is some … [Read more...] about Sajid Javid blasts Theresa May over Government’s weak response to soaring knife crime wave – and demands extra cash for cops

By Amy Russo President Donald Trump has tweeted yet another dramatic meme à la “Game of Thrones,” and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is fed up. On Saturday, the commander in chief posted an image of himself hovering over the U.S.-Mexico border against a dark backdrop with the words, “THE WALL IS COMING.” The words echo the motto of House Stark on “Game of Thrones”: “Winter is coming.” “Enough with the memes,” Schumer, the Senate minority leader, wrote in response. “Just quit hurting innocent people and re-open the government.” Enough with the memes. THERESA May has survived a vote of no confidence as she tries to push through a Brexit deal that Parliament will back. But does the PM actually want to leave the EU, and did she campaign to stay or go? Here's what we know. Is Theresa May a Remainer? In the months before the 2016 Referendum, Mrs May was in the Remain camp but was noticeably quiet in her campaigning. As Home Secretary she toed the party line that then PM David Cameron had set out. But the MP for Maidenhead did have moments where she strongly discouraged Brexit, warning voters that a Leave result could have seriously damaging ramifications for the economy and security of the UK. Mrs May also said that the EU would be “fatal for the Union with Scotland”, as the Scottish National Party (SNP) would most likely try again for independence if Scotland voted to remain while the UK as a whole voted to leave. She … [Read more...] about Is Theresa May a Remainer and what are the Prime Minister’s views on Brexit?
BORIS Johnson has blasted Theresa May's Brexit strategy as "deranged" and "preposterous" as he threw a political hand grenade ahead of the Tory party conference. The former foreign secretary's fiery comments came as the Prime Minister set out plans aimed at bolstering her position amid a breakdown in Brexit talks with the EU. She laid out her plans to crack down on foreigners buying homes and proposals for a nationwide festival in 2022 - the year of the next scheduled general election. In comments which will fuel rumours of his own leadership ambitions, Mr Johnson attacked the Prime Minister's approach to Brexit talks. In an interview with the Sunday Times, he said: "Unlike the Prime Minister, I campaigned for Brexit." Mr Johnson also branded Mrs May's call for a facilitated customs arrangement - part of the Chequers plan to break the deadlock in Brexit talks - "entirely preposterous". He told the newspaper: "Unlike the Prime Minister, I fought for this, I believe in it, I think it's … [Read more...] about Boris Johnson blasts Theresa May’s Brexit plan as ‘deranged’ and ‘proposterous’ in fierce attack on Prime Minister ahead of Tory conference
